10 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/15/03 - 10:58:24 PM EST (GMT-5)
"Grave of the Fireflies" is really not for children....scenes of charred bodies and people dying horrendously while their city is being firebombed does not make for good children's viewing.

The film is so overwhelming because it is animated. Live action could not convey the same feeling as this film nor capture the horror of war through a child's eye.

If any of you rent this film on DVD, I recommend that you watch Roger Ebert's commentary on it first. Very powerful.
