I let the step I've been on all along just slide me onto the floor. |

Don't get me started on this. I used to love escalators but now I am terrified because I fell down one when I was 10-11. It was only about a year or 2 ago that I was able to use an escalator again after about 5 years. It takes me forever to step on one, I do have to have the perfect step, and someone has to be standing directly infront of me. |

very often so, unless I'm busy envisioning the horrors that might occur if I didn't...
I've seen "Mallrats" so my escalator awareness is slightly more heightened than some non-Kevin Smith fans.... |

When I'm going up, someone always has to stand behind me and vice versa. I have to stand smack in the middle of the step and I won't move from that spot until it's time to get off.. Those things freak me out! |

Yeah.. I'm terrified of escalators. When I was 4 I saw someone get their leg all torn up on one. |

Yes, I got the sole of my sneaker taken off by one when I was 10. It was scary. |

Ok, I thought I was the only neurotic fool that waited for the perfect step. Now I see that I was wrong - only thing is, I did it so as not too fall, I am not sure what these peoples' issues are... |

I don't wait for the perfect step. I worry more about what happens when the power suddenly stops.
Hard to fly without wings.I know, I've seen people
try. This is why, if at all possible, I use stairs.
Don't even ask about elevators. You haven't lived
until you're stuck for 15 minutes in an elevator with someone who hasn't bathed this month.

Just get on a step, stay on until you get to the top (or bottom), then get off. "Simple, so very simple, that only a child can do it," to quote Tom Lehrer; I guess I'm too childlike. Or is that "childish? Whatever. |

I used to until I had to learn how to get myself and a guide dog onto an escalator. The first time I had to do it there was this huge line behind me and I was waiting for the "perfect" moment. I was scared to death. My trainer was pushing me to do it and I was crying like a baby because I was afraid I was going to hurt the dog. Finally I just closed my eyes and stepped on. The dog came on with me and we both end the ride safely. All of the people who were waiting behind me applauded. Now it's no big deal and I love to catch a glimpse of people's faces when they see a dog riding an escalator. |
