I don't think it should be a male/female issue. It's polite to open a door for another person/hold it open for the next person.

Same here, chivalry mostly seems like common courtesy to me.

Many times I’ve been going through a door, held it open for the guy walking behind me (I’d hold it open for whoever because letting the door shut on someone is just kinda rude), but then he’s gone and kind of grabbed the door and opened it further to make me let go of the door and walk out first and it’s like, mate, you are just complicating common courtesy. But whatever. Do what you want. Its just walking through doors
