Can a company be charged with a crime?
Since a company,or a limited liability partnership is simply a legal construct, it cannot commit a physical act such as obstruction of justice...so how can companies be punished?

That's a good question... Unless it can be proven the owners/holders of the company can directly be linked to the physical act of the crime. I really don't know.

Yes, I work in healthcare and if we do something wrong and state sees it the company is fined not the individual.

There is a newish charge in Britain of Corporate manslaughter when a companies' working practices are shown to have been negligent in proteting human life. No one has been convicted of Corporate manslaughter although Railtrack came clostest after the Paddington and Hatfield train crashes.
