“ALSC has had to grapple with the inconsistency between Wilder’s legacy and its core values of inclusiveness, integrity and respect, and responsiveness through an award that bears Wilder’s name”
“We are not demanding that anyone stop reading Wilder’s books, talking about them, or making them available to children,” the statement says. “We hope adults think critically about Wilder’s books and the discussions that can take place around them.”
yep, i guess if you are already a nut that sounds like political correctness gone mad

It's a pretty big step from taking someone's name off a prestigious award to literally removing their books from school libraries. By the way, a lot of times, the books that are in individual classrooms are purchased by the teacher. Like with their own money.
So what makes you think that a teacher will want the 'racist' label that will now go along with Wilder's books?
