Funniest Comments of the Week

In a thread titled "Schizophrenic killer on the loose in Washington":
thh: I used to know a guy who was activities director for a mental institution (not criminally insane) His "best patient" thought he was a lawyer who owned half of Baltimore and was constantly being machine gunned to death by snipers. And he was the one my friend would tell the others "Why can't you be more like him?"
pantala: owning half of baltimore must be cool though.
jealousblues: eah, but then again I dont have syphilis

(see, its easy. Half of Baltimore owned right there^)

In the link "Bill O'Reilly Gets Rickroll'd :
theBSR: Ok just for the slow people......."Rick Rollin' has been around for 2 years, O'Reilly hasn't been on Inside Edition in 14 years.......do the math.
buddy: The answer is 12.

From a hypothetical situation thread titled 'Some sort of Apocalypse wipes out 5+ billion people':
CameronVance: I'd get on yt and see who is left.
halzberry: ...and then leave when you realize that the only activity on the site is a bunch of questions about current events (most likely submitted by Kiki)?

From a thread titled 'BIGGEST SLUTS/HE-WHORES OF YT':
glennh70: he-whore sounds like something to do with donkeys.

In news forum discussing a census taker found hanging from a tree with the word 'fed' written on his chest:
pamplemousse: How would it be accidental death or suicide when someone wrote "fed" on him?
Kepi: Someone maybe had a fixation with labeling things? I'd look for other writing that includes "tree", "leaf" and "Meth lab"

Joke of the Week

I slept with your mum!

Two guys are sitting on a bar stool. One starts to insult the other one. He screams, “I slept with your mum!” The bar gets quiet as everyone listens to see what the other guy will do. The first again yells, “I SLEPT WITH YOUR MUM!”

The other says, “Go home dad you’re drunk.”

JoeInterview's Member Feature

This week's interview features theBSR. This interview was conducted by travbowman, holly_bolly, and JayY.

JoeInterview: First off, how did you find YT?

theBSR: I started on I-am-bored about 4yrs ago. I used to post a lot in the political links there, pushing buttons and what not, until Raphael and Immortal_1 picked me off and led me here to YT.

JI: What would you say is the biggest reason you keep coming back for more?

BSR: It used to be just to argue about anything, or make statements about whatever hot-button political or social topic was on tap for the day, but eventually I grew tired of pointless debates where nobody concedes anything. I can say this because I am one of these people. I would say now it's more the interaction with all kinds of different people that keeps me coming. I live in one of the most diverse cities in the world, but I do not get the chance to talk to people from around the world on a daily basis about whatever, like I do on here. I mean where else can you get into a heated argument with someone about socialized medicine in one thread and then reminisce about your favorite movies that you have in common with them in another one?

JI: What's the best thing about being a New Yorker?

BSR: The best part? Tough Question. I don't know if there is one thing in particular that stands out as the best, but there are countless things that make it the best place to live, in my eyes anyway. I'm a big sports fan, we have 9 major sports team in the metro area, with some of the best venues to watch them in. I love the bars, clubs, theatres, and restaurants....there are so many things to keep you busy. You will see some unique things here....if you give it five minutes.New Yorkers, sometimes to the dismay of others, have a sense of entitlement...I do feel lucky to be one.

JI: Do you hate New Jersey?

BSR: Nah....I mean they are like our inbred, ginger kid cousins that are stuck a decade behind, but I don't hate them. They are gracious hosts for my NY Football Giants, so let's give them a pass.

JI: For those who aren't aware, what's the meaning of your screenname?

BSR: theBSR......it's not the BSer, which is the common conception on here, and when I play online poker(everybody thinks I'm always bluffing there).

the B.S.R. stands for the Blue State Republican... I was tagged this nickname on the Real Clear Politics message boards during the 2004 National Elections.....it stuck so I shortened it and now use it as my handle everywhere on the web.

JI: At about what age did you develop your current political beliefs?

BSR: Somewhere in the middle of George H W's term, around thetime leading up to the Gulf War. Prior to that, I was 15-16 at the time, I believed I was a Democrat. Yes I did say that.

I actually wrote an 8th grade report on why I felt Richard Gephardt should be President in 1988. The truth is I had no idea what I believed until that point.

JI: Describe your occupation to us.

BSR: I dispatch and supervise a corporate limo service in Manhattan. It's a pretty stressful job, with little gratification, but it's kind of easy to me because I have been doing it for 13 years on and off.

JI: What's the most stressful part of the job?

BSR: I deal with some of the most prestigious financial institutions and consulting firms in the world...so to say that these people are pretty demanding is an understatement. You can do the same job right a thousand times, but if you screw up just once, they'll always remember that job and not the hundreds of times you were on point.

JI: What was the teenage version of theBSR like?

BSR: I was a hooligan of sorts, liked partying, girls, fighting, etc....I was really into athletics. I lifted weights, played baseball, football and ice hockey later. I had a car accident when I was 17 that made me grow up a bit faster than I would have liked....but all and all I had a fairly normal teenage life.

JI: So music has been putting you into a spin lately?

BSR: I have a pretty wide range of music in my iTunes, ranging from Johnny Cash to Jay-Z. My top genre of music would be hard house club music... but lately I been drifting back to my all time favorite band, U2. I'm really excited about finally getting to see them in concert next week at the Meadowlands.

JI: For those getting into U2 for the first time, what song(s) do you recommend that they start with?

BSR: Oh wow...my intro to U2 was Sunday Bloody Sunday, I was nine years old. I remember the video pulled me in. You can never go wrong with the classics: New Years Day, Bad, Pride, I will Follow, Where the Streets Have No Name, With or Without You, I Still haven't Found What I'm looking for...

My All time favorite song is One. If you listen to these songs, and don't like them, they are not for you. If you do like these songs, then you probably will like a lot of the other stuff they have.

JI: Who outside of family has had the biggest influence on your life?

BSR: Well my Family has absolutely had the biggest influence.....but outside of the family??? I would say George Lucas.

Star Wars influenced every ounce of my childhood. Everything I wanted to do either had to do with the movies, space, or Star Wars itself. Eventually I grew out of all of that (somewhere around 4 years ago when the last film came out), but it definitely shaped my childhood, and that shapes everyone in one way or another for life.

JI: How did you view the latest trilogy compared to the original one?

BSR: No comparison. The original was way better. I liked the new ones but they didn't have the same feel as the originals. I believe one of the biggest things was the fact that in Episodes I-III everything was shiny and new. In the originals the places, people, and space ships were dirty. It was something that no space movie really ever did, which is one of the things that made them stand out. The layout of the originals were done through the perspective of the two robots (r2d2 and c3p0), he sort of shied away from that, in the newer films. The musical score was not as engaging as the originals. In A New Hope, Empire and Jedi you felt the emotional swings of the movie, I didn't always feel that in the new ones. The new films did have a few pluses though, the best saber battle by far was the 3 way in Episode I, and some of the graphics were just awesome. Ok I over geeked...I'll stop now.

JI: At this point, do you think that Lucas is mostly in it for the money?

BSR: Now? Yeah, I mean he has built an empire, all stemming from his Star Wars films. Be it THX, ILM, LucasFilms, LucasArts, etc... it's kind of hard for him not to be in it for the money, at this stage of the game. I still think he loves what he does, but I think at this point he looks at it a little more from the business side of things, and not just from the artistic point of view.

JI: Whose sense of humour can get you to laugh any time you watch/hear/read it?

BSR: A few stand out for me. Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Kevin James....but I'll go with Jerry Seinfeld. I have probably seen every episode of Seinfeld at least five times, but I never get tired of watching them, even when I tune in half way through. Maybe it's just a New Yorker thing, but it was really easy for me to relate to the show about nothing, and its crazy characters.

JI: What was your favourite episode of Seinfeld?

BSR: The Keith Hernandez episodes. That was what got me into the show. I always liked Seinfelds specials on cable, but never gave his show a chance, until my favorite basesball player as a child played himself in these episodes. After watching them I was hooked. I have actually seen the two of them in person leaving Mets games.....it's so surreal.

JI: So did Keith Hernandez spit or not?

BSR: No......it was Roger McDowell from the grassy knoll.

JI: Besides the 86 Series, what's been your best experience as a Mets fan?

BSR: Well nothing compares to that whole season, but I've been to some great games, and not just at Shea. I've traveled to see them in many different cities. My best experience was probably the 99 playoffs. I was at Games 3-6 of the NLCS (3-5 at Shea and 6 at Turner Field in Atlanta), that was a great playoff series that we eventually lost, but just really exciting games throughout. The best being Venturas grand slam-single to end game 5....a classic moment in baseball history. Being a Mets fan is not for the faint hearted.

JI: Switching sports...how does a New Yorker choose between Giants and Jets? It's not like there's a geographical factor at stake there.

BSR: In most cases, you either inherit the teams through family, or you choose based on what generation you grew up in. I kind of migrated to the Giants as a result of both. My uncle was how I inherited the team, and Lawrence Taylor dominating football was happening during my youth, which was the generational part of me picking them. It's not uncommon for people to get caught up in championship runs, and stick with a team, but most of those people are fair weather fans that will switch based on success.

JI: When at the bar, what's your drink of choice?

BSR: Hard-Vodka straight.

Beer-Guinness, Amstel or Rolling Rock.

JI: What's the craziest thing you've ever done while drunk?

BSR: I tore apart a Taco Bell. Literally. I did a head first dive across 7-8 tables that were next to each other.....all loaded with trays of food. I climbed over the counter and proceeded to fling handfuls of sauce all over the store. Bad stuff. I talked my way out of being arrested....somehow.

Kids, let this be a lesson.........do not drink in the sun for 12 hours.

JI: Did you ever set foot again in that particular Taco Bell?

BSR: No way Jose. For one that Taco Bell was in the middle of the boonies..... I had never been to it before that, and never plan on going back. I think they would probably remember me.

JI: Any final words of wisdom to share with your fellow YTers?

BSR: Remember at the end of the day, nobody IRL cares how cool you are on the internet.......no, not even your mother.

Dead Men's Club
Excerpt: So a midget, two minorities, a valley girl, a senior, a weightlifter, an existentialist and a hipster enter a diner. Now it may sound like a setup to a terrible joke, but it is not.
