In a thread where people are giving peppydancer advice on how to speed up labour:

Putterer: So, has anyone tried pushing Holly down the stairs yet?
Joke of the Week
Artistic Flair
A couple attending an art exhibition at the National Gallery were staring at a portrait that had them completely confused. The painting depicted three very black and totally naked men sitting on a park bench.
Two of the figures had a black penis , but the one in the middle had a pink penis. The curator of the gallery realised that they were having trouble interpreting the painting and offered his assessment. He went on for nearly half an hour explaining how it depicted the sexual emasculation of Indigenous Australians in a predominately white, patriarchal society. "In fact," he pointed out, "some serious critics believe that the pink penis also reflects the cultural and sociological oppression experienced by gay men in contemporary society."
After the curator left, a young bloke in an ACDC T-shirt approached the couple and said, "Would you like to know what the painting is really about?"
"Now why would you claim to be more of an expert than the curator of the gallery?" asked the couple.
"Because I'm the bloke who painted it," he replied.
"In fact, there are no Indigenous Australians depicted at all. They're just three Aussie coal miners, and the bloke in the middle went home for lunch.”

JoeInterview's Member Feature
This week's interview features melly1000. This interview was conducted by travbowman.
JoeInterview: First off, how did you find YT?
melly1000: I think like a lot of people I went through bored.com.but way back when it was only really questions that was used.
JI: What would you say is the biggest reason you keep coming back for more?
M1000: It used to be the friends I had on here and while I still have people I call friends I'm not as close to them. I thinks it that I can say what I like on here and generally you get some interesting feedback. And the drama of course
JI: Describe your job to us.
M1000: Ok, well basically I am a Crime Scene Examiner. When a crime is committed, my team and I attend. This can be anything from theft from a motor vehicle to murder. We turn up and collect the evidence. We fingerprint, we take hairs and fibres, all that kind of stuff! Then we write it all up and hopefully get it all identified. Then we might go to court, we might not, that all depends on how foolproof our write-ups are.
Sadly, I don't have a boss who wears shades and comes out with cheesy lines, I'm sure it would be better if I did!
JI: What's the biggest thing that tv/movies gets wrong about your field?
M1000: How glamorour it is. I enjoy my job but I get messy and I have to wear paper suits, overshoes, gloves etc! Its not all posh suits! Also the technology! Even if half of it existed it would cost too much. But the basics tend to be pretty sound!
JI: How have you changed the most in your 7+ years at YT?
M1000: I think (hope) I have become less whiney! My life no longer revolves around who I am dating to the degree that it does when you are a teen. I basically have matured and hope I give a little more back to yt nowadays!
JI: What do you miss most about ye good ol days of YT?
M1000: I miss the old ytUK lot! Its evolved and there are a lot of new UK members and it makes me feel old when I reminisce about all the older times when we met up. I guess it just dawns on me how long I have been on here and seen people come and go, some sadly passing away, and I miss my old yt crew. Sad eh?
JI: Describe your favourite YTUK meetup. What made it so memorable?
M1000: It has to be the first group one I went to which was 2005 I think. About 13 of us went to TGI Fridays. It was a good laugh but I also met some people I became really close too; fish, mrhorn, divinest and even ebonysoul.
I have met some really interesting people through YT, people I will never forget, and thats what has always brought me back.
JI: If you could meet up with any three YTers anywhere in the world, where would it be and who would be there?
M1000: ok my first would be Lyrical Razor. I have met him once before and he is a really good friend of mine. He is currently in Hawaii so I would happily jet over there and sun myself while meeting him...i'm sure he'd deal with seeing me in a bikini!
um... there is no one else that I am truly dying to meet. There used to be but i'm not so close to anyone anymore. Off the top of my head I would drag Pegasus to Hawaii with me because I think we would get on really well and I'd bring NightGoddess along for the ride too because I reckon we could talk for hours.
Yeh, those are people I would be interested in talking to....I could name a few that I'd be interested in doing other things with...haha
JI: Hawaii sounds like a pretty nice destination. What's the best place you've travelled to so far in life?
M1000: I used to be an air hostess (Trolley Dolley, flying waitress...whatever) and we went to Asia. I went to Hong Kong and loved it, loved the shopping and how clean it was. I loved the touristy bits too like the giant Buddha.
But I have to say one place I enjoy every time I go is, predictably, the USA. I have been to Minnesota a few times and have loved it both times and it felt like I was leaving home when I came back to England. I went to Arizona in January and although I didn't find there was ALOT to do I really enjoyed the whole atmosphere. I generally prefer the less touristy areas as I also did Las Vegas but didn't enjoy it nearly as much.
JI: What surprised you most about being in America?
M1000: The first time it was how cheap everything was, and the second time it was how expensive everything was. It also suprised me that I couldn't finish any food, on every trip I have ever been on to America I have never been able to finish a whole meal...and I'm not one who usually struggles.
But what struck me the most is that I expected to have a good holiday and enjoy myself, but I didn't expect the wave of sadness I've gotten every time I have left. I need me a green card
JI: What music has been getting the most spin from you lately?
M1000: Well I've been playing a lot of dance music as I've been going to the gym alot so the BPM is really good for cardio. But I have got to say, it is always pretty much Jason Mraz. I like all the singer song writer stuff, the stuff you can sing along to. But I'm going to see him in concert on Sunday and I'm highly excited. I've not been to many gigs but his have always been my favourite. Especially the last one as I got to meet him....sigh
JI: What's he like in person?
M1000: Stoned. That about says it all. He is the most chilled person ever, really friendly and not at all up himself. He was really down to earth and lovely to us. I think he'd have chatted more were we not drooling so much.
JI: What's the best song he's ever recorded?
M1000: I love 'Unfold', its a truely wonderful song, but one song that always has a place in my heart is 'Sleeping to Dream'. Those are both on EP's though, mainstream.....'Butterfly' is awesomely dirrty!
JI: Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
M1000: Hopefully married, happy in my job, hopefully having risen in the ranks. I'm not sure i'd want a baby by 32. To be quite honest i think i'll have enough trouble trying to find someone to marry me.
JI: What's the best thing about living in London?
M1000: I can't really think of anything. It's so anonymous, which I suppose some people would think is a good thing. Everyone just seems to always be in a rush and really unfriendly, but I can be like that a lot of thime. I suppose there is just tons of stuff to do, but again....it costs a fortune. I dunno, i'm not really feeling the London vibe. I'd like to move to America, not sure where though.
JI: What's the best way to spend a weekend?
M1000: I'm pretty chilled, so i like spending it with my friends and just chilling, maybe cinema and some food. I'm pretty easy to please, but maybe throw in meeting Jason Mraz as well and its purr-fect.
JI: If Buddy sold YT to you for a dollar, what would be the first thing you'd change?
M1000: The mods. I think a lot of it is a popularity contest, but then I'd be picking mods I liked so it would be one again. I think everything on here, running wise, is done well. It generally doesn't suit people if it isn't in their favour. So it doesn't so much bother. All the technical stuff i'd have to get someone else to fix.
I would make it so 'Europe' could be defined, how come USA comes in many sections when its all one country, but we are lumped together as a continent?!
But the first thing I'd change....i'd put GOD under my name!
JI: What's your forte in the kitchen?
M1000: I cook a good risotto. I'm not a great cook but I can stir-fry with the best of them. I'm a bit of a recipe follower and did make the famous Lyntess cakeballs recently, which went down really well. I've yet to try one though as I gave up Chocolate for lent....but come Sunday.....mmmmm
JI: When at the pub what's your drink of choice?
M1000: I am usually a Vodka Lemon and Lime girl, however I have been known to tipple a nice glass of white wine on occasion. When I went to Gran Canaria a few years ago I found chocolate milk and malibu, honestly it takes amazing, its just that no pub in England offers chocolate milk! Try it sometime though
JI: What's a hidden talent of yours that not many YTers know about?
M1000: Right....talent...I can sing fairly well, I can do British Sign language....I can drive a minibus? I dunno, I don't have any raw talent, so I shan't be appearing on Britain's Got Talent anytime soon!
JI: Give YT a quick crash course on minibus driving- - what do we need to know that's not obvious to regular driving?
M1000: It's just a lot longer and wider, so you have to be more conscious about the rear tires making it round corners without mounting the kerb. That's it really, it is a little scary at first.
JI: Any final words of wisdom to share with your fellow YTers?
M1000: Don't take YT so seriously, unless you have no life and spend all your time on here in which case.... OMFG FAIL
