Funniest Comments of the Week
In Panophobia’s thread entitled: why doesn't anyobdy talk to me? :
panophobia: So this is a networking site for paranoid antisocial and violent creeps?
Brockgurl86: Pretty much. Have you met Sander yet?
In ichabod00x's "Response has Dwindled" thread:
Noldor: "Response has Dwindled" What's your next thread going to be titled? "I'm getting no response at all now".
In a thread titled "Ahmadinejad in New York":
Boredofu: Well to be fair a good number of people on here have used the phrase "turn the Middle East into glass"
Bracchion: Very true, and once again, very indicative of many Americans' lack of foresight....if they turn the place to glass, how do they expect to get at the oil?
EhFahQ: By cracking it, duh.
In rob_can_run's journal where he keeps getting adult diapers delivered to his apartment:
Rob_can_run: They probably have Alztheimer's anyway.
face: Why is the thought of someone with Alzheimers who can't control their BMs so entertaining. "I pooped in one of your rooms on accident" "Which one??" "I can't remember. . .it'll turn up."
In a thread featuring one of many fights between newtownninja and mightyrhinox:
handys003: No, I enjoy Mighty and NTN posts as I always relish seeing what they come up with each proverbial tirade. It's like Ali and Frazier.
Mizu: Yeah, but it's like Ali and Frazier fighting NOW. You WANT it to be a classic, with sublime cut and thrust, but in reality, deep down inside, you know it's just two wobbly guys leaning against each other, making ineffectual attempts to hurt the other.
Joke of the Week
A man and his wife
There once was an old man and woman that were married for 60 years. The old woman had a box on top of her closet, and told the old man NEVER to open it. One day the old woman was dying and laid in her death bed. The old man took the box down and brought it to her. She told him that he could open the box, and there he found 2 dolls and $10,000! He asked her what the dolls were for and the old woman said, "When I was little my grandmother told me that happiness is to never get mad at eachother. So when I got mad at you I would just sew a doll." The man wanted to cry for all those years the old woman only got mad at him twice! He asked her, "Then where did you get the money?" She said, "I got the money by selling the dolls!"

JoeInterview's Member Feature
This week's interview features tikleelmo2. This interview was conducted by travbowman.
JoeInterview: First off, how did you find YT?
tikleelmo2: I think from a link off of iambored.com. That was quite some time ago, though.
JI: What's the biggest reason you keep coming back for more?
TE2: I am a big lurker. I like to read up on certain threads, like the pregnancy thread in OS and the Harry Potter thread in Literature. Then I just read over the threads that seem interesting to me, occasionally posting when I feel I have something to add. Sometimes it's kind of like a soap opera with all the different personalities of the regulars.
JI: Which Harry Potter film has been the best adaptation of one of the books so far?
TE2: I try not to compare the books and movies too much, lest I become disappointed, but I guess I would have to say the first. It really captured the magic and spirit of the series.
JI: How did you and your husband meet?
TE2: We met on Yahoo, actually. I think he was getting up the nerves to as me on a date when I started dating someone else. He became one of my best online friends, and since we lived in the same area, we actually ran into each other several times in town. When things didn't work out between myself and the other guy, he asked me out on a date.
JI: How long have you guys been together?
TE2: We've been together a little more than 3 and a half years, and have been married almost 15 months.
JI: Have you thought of any names yet for your upcoming bundle of joy?
TE2: We are still debating. We have this huge list that REALLY needs to be narrowed down. I need to guilt my husband into working on that soon. But as we don't know the gender yet, we'd still have to have 2 names picked.
JI: When are you guys due?
TE2: March 20, 2009. We're almost 15 weeks along.
JI: Your profile lists your occupation as "In the medical field". What drew you to medicine?
TE2: Oddly enough, I am a teacher, with a masters degree. I taught for a year and though I loved the teaching part, I was just so over worked, stressed and disappointed in the educational system.
So, I looked back in my work history to see what I could do for a living. When I was in college, I worked in a doctor's office and enjoyed myself, so I searched for similar jobs. Now I work for a medical billing company, as a team lead for the posting dept. for a client we have in SC. I enjoy what I do and I don't stress so much, plus I have so much more time for my husband and myself now.
JI: Do you think you could ever get back into teaching, if the situation was right?
TE2: Maybe. If God put it right in front of me, I might not be able to say no.. It all depends on the time, place, and situation, I guess.
JI: Whose posts on YT do you enjoy reading the most?
TE2: Haha, probably DYW. Doesn't everyone?
JI: As a self-proclaimed YT lurker, do you think the site needs more people who bring drama to the site?
TE2: Some days I would say yes, especially on the weekends! But on most days, there is enough drama with much left over! Sometimes it is even just cool to lurk about in mellow threads, especially if my day was particularly drama-filled.
Probably what the site could use is more of us lurkers to come out of our shells sometimes. But I am guessing that like myself, most of the lurkers are kind of lurkers to some degree in their real life- - - mostly listeners, who throw in their two cents when they really feel that it is needed.
JI: What's the best thing about living in Tennessee?
TE2: I have only lived here a little over a year, so I guess I am still getting used to it.. But, there are beautiful views here. The mountains are just gorgeous. It is also kind of a good mix of rural and urban. I like that feel.
Also, coming from a state with state income tax, I can say that I quite enjoy not having to pay that!
JI: What do you not like about living there so far?
TE2: Sometimes the people are very narrow-minded.
It is also quite odd the politics and practices with young children playing sports. I remember when you were in elementary school, just playing sports for fun, and everyone making the team. Here, kids are pushed really hard, and have to try out, even in the second grade!! It's all about who you know, I guess.
JI: What sort of extra-curricular activities did you go growing up?
TE2: When I was in elementary school, I tried softball, and did dance for a year. In middle school, I did a year of gymnastics and cheerleading.
But I wasn't really the sporty type, so for high school I was in lots of clubs... I was in student council every year, beta club, NHS, and though I wasn't officially in the science club, I did a couple of science bowls with them. I guess I the brainy, teacher's pet type. I was in those same kind of organizations in college, also.
JI: Which branch of science is your favourite?
TE2: Biology. I actually have my bachelor's in biology. I am just fascinated by it. I honestly may have decided to get a doctorate and teach it, if I weren't so generalistic in my interest in biology. If I had to choose one branch to study I would have a really hard time. Maybe one day I'll decide which part is my favorite and go back to school, but I sort of doubt it...
JI: What was the most interesting thing you dissected in all of your bio labs?
TE2: Oooh, that is a hard one. Honestly, of all the classes in which I dissected organisms, the most interesting was probably in 9th grade honors bio, where we dissected a dogfish shark. It was just so neat because they had babies inside. We all thought that was just so cool!
JI: What's the perfect way to spend a weekend?
TE2: Hmm, other than go off to paradise somewhere? I think going on some kind of "date" with my husband, maybe not even the "traditional", like going putt putt or something. Then sleeping in, reading a good book, spending some quality time with my husband, and just kind of loafing around for the rest of the time.
JI: What sort of music has been getting the most spin from you lately?
TE2: Well, semi recently, I wore out Madonna's and ColdPlay's new albums. Since then, I've been digging my older Sheryl Crow and Nelly Furtado. I also just listen to the radio, a lot, also. Just a station that plays a little bit of everything.
JI: How do you think Coldplay's newest CD compares to their older stuff?
TE2: I think that it is quite different than what they have done before. Honestly, it seems like each CD they come out with is so different than the last, but I always end up loving it. I think this one would rank second as far as my favorites. The second one (can't remember what it is called) is my favorite.
JI: Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
TE2: Honestly, not too much differently than now. Living in the house we just bought yesterday, probably with 2 kids. I could see myself being a stay at home mom, still working in my current job, or somewhere else. I just see myself enjoying life with my husband and kids.
JI: Ooh, describe your new house to us!
TE2: Oh, we are so excited! It is, as my husband describes it, a big brick box. Ha! It's a brick split level built in the 70s, and is a bit more than 1700 sq ft. It has a nice basement and is 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. All the bedrooms are upstairs, along with one bathroom, the kitchen and the living room. Downstairs is an office, a BIG room that we are thinking about dividing into a family room and a "library", and a bathroom that has the laundry room adjoined to it.
We love the yard. It is about half an acre and is flat and fenced in. There are several nice shady trees in both the front and back yard. I am SO looking forward to moving in!
JI: Any plans for all that yard space?
TE2: We have 2 cats that are inside and outside, so I am sure that they will enjoy that! My inlaws have said that they are going to buy the baby a puppy, so I guess that will be a good place for it, also.
And of course, when the baby is old enough it will be a great play space.
JI: Any final words of wisdom to share with your fellow YTers?
TE2: When something doesn't work out the way you hoped, try and remember that maybe it wasn't supposed to. You may find that somewhere down the road, it turns out even better than you thought!

She Walks on the Highway
Excerpt: I can't stay here. My husband has taken the kids camping. They love camping, but they were more reluctant to leave than usual. I'm only safe as long as they're with me. I can't stay.
