Funniest Comments of the Week
In a thread about a bad sunburn:
megaproto123: Ouch. I forget what it's called, but there's some kind of blue gel that helps a lot. Unlike my description.
From EhFahQ’s "Time for a politcal thread for people who dont give a rats ass about the election" thread:
j2moneyj2d2: Everyone I met/talked to in Europe basically wants Obama to win. If McCain wins, we're going to look like morons to the rest of the world.
Cheese King: Yes, let's pick our president based on how cool it makes us look to the other countries. But mom, even Romania has the shoes with the light up heels!
In Ddude28’s “real names” thread, in which he asks YTers to post their real first names and is greeted with page after page of fake names, often with repeated posts by the same YTers.:
Cindy_: I bet this is very much what it's like at the first meeting of a multiple personality support group.
In a thread about halzberry's radio show:
thh: Have you heard the Miley Cyrus song "Seven things I hate about you"? I'm waiting for the Jonas brothers to release "Shut up and stop being a bitch" on their next album.
Random journal:
xxemoxlovexx: I've been beaten more than 100 times by him with my own studded belt.
McDoug8: After the first few, I would of gotten a belt made out of bunny fur.

JoeInterview's Member Feature
This week's interview features G0DZlLLA. This interview was conducted by travbowman.
JoeInterview: First off, how did you find YT?
G0DZlLLA: The same way most people find it, through IAB.com. I answered questions for a while and finally found the forums about a month later.
JI: What would you say is the biggest reason you keep coming back for more?
G: For the first couple years I was on this site it was that I absolutely loved talking about random things with everyone here, but recently it's because it's a great place to browse the news and ask questions. Whenever I make a thread I get a lot of insight that I would never have thought of on my own.
JI: How have you changed the most in your 3.5 years here?
G: I would say I've changed the most in regards to how I interact with other people. When I first came to YT, I was a 15 year old in a "mid-teen crisis". I didn't know what to think or what to do, and was sort of a recluse and didn't think highly of ANYONE. This got a little worse, but as I matured, I started to value other people's opinions (partly because of this site, actually), and accept people in general. Because of this I'm a lot more outgoing and not afraid to talk to people.
JI: How do you think YT has changed the most in that time?
G: Honestly, I don't think it's changed all that much. Journals has seemed to go even further downhill, but that might have just been me looking at it differently. People are still doing the same things here, and I don't think that that will ever change.
JI: So umm...broken arms. What's the worst thing about having a couple of 'em at the same time?
G: The worst part for me, personally, is that I won't be able to do much weightlifting until I'm fully recovered, which won't be for another 3-6 months. But the worst part about having two casts on at the same time? You can't shower or clean your entire body by yourself. It's just a huge hassle and I'll never take stepping into a hot shower for granted again. Right away I couldn't do anything by myself, but I've slowly gotten most things back, but I still can't do that shower thing.
JI: When fully healthy, what's life as a roofer like?
G: Well, this was just a summer job for me, so I was a grunt. There's a lot of physical labor for someone like me, and there's absolutely no way to get out of the sun. It's a "man's job"; if you complain at all you'll be ridiculed, you get dirty, you work with your hands, etc. It's good, hard work, and at the end of the day you'll feel fulfilled, at least physically.
JI: Are you currently taking college courses? If so, what are you studying?
G: The next semester starts on September 1st for me. I'm still pretty early on in my college career, so I'm not exactly sure what I'll be majoring in, but it'll either be mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, or physics. I'm extremely good at math, so I plan on using that to my advantage. I'm actually using some of my freetime right now skimming through a calculus book to prepare myself for a class, haha.
JI: Are you still considering the armed forces as an option?
G: Not for a bit. I obviously can't do it anytime soon, but I might enlist when I'm back at 100% if nothing's changed. It's probably a better thing to wait with the Iraq war going on right now, anyway.
JI: You currently have 50 more subscribers than buddies. Any theories to explain the popularity?
G: Hah, you know, I never even noticed that. It might be because most of the threads I make here are either ridiculous (and people find them funny), or general questions that might interest people. If I see something on the internet that I find hilarious or just plain weird, I'll put it on this site because I like how everyone here responds to them. Or maybe people just like me. I dunno.
JI: What kind of music has been getting the most spin from you lately?
G: It's been really random lately...I'll go straight from metal to Beethoven and then to The Killers. But the band that's been getting the most play has been Skinny Puppy, one of my favorite bands. Even though I don't like their new stuff that much, I plan on seeing them on their next tour, whenever that is. As far as concerts go, this year has been pretty bleak, but I plan on seeing Opeth and Ensiferum later on.
JI: Who do you look up to the most outside of family?
G: Without a doubt my friend Daniel. He's completely paralyzed from the neck down except for a bit of movement in his arms, and a small amount in his hands (he can't do anything himself, though). Even though his accident happened in his sophomore year of high school, he hasn't really let it get to him at all and I think he's a lot funnier now than he ever was. I have a lot of respect for him and whenever I think about him, all of my problems seem pretty small compared to what he's already went through, so he's a huge inspiration to me and all my friends.
JI: Have you talked to him about your roofing accident?
G: Sort of. He took one look at me and told me that I was copying him, and then his sister told us that we should have a cripple fight. That was really the extent of it...I've never talked to him about his injury other than a few basic questions right away when he was in the hospital. I don't think it'll ever come up between us. It's just something that we don't even address.
JI: What's your most prized possession, and why?
G: I honestly don't have one. I can't think of a single item that I would really care about losing on anything above a convenience or monetary level, but that's probably because I'm a college student. I guess it would be my ipod, because I listen to it every single time I work out and even though I enjoy exercising, it makes it a lot easier.
JI: What was the last good movie you saw?
G: That's a really hard question because I've seen so many good ones lately...but the two I need to mention are Million Dollar Baby and Juno. Million Dollar Baby has two of my favorite actors in it (Eastwood and Freeman), so it's self explanatory why I loved it, but Juno is pretty much the opposite of what I usually watch. If a guy whose favorite movie is Evil Dead 2 loves a movie about a pregnant teenager, everyone needs to see it.
JI: What are your opinions on "Army of Darkness"? Most people I run into prefer that to "Evil Dead 2".
G: Army of Darkness is one of my favorite movies, and you're right about most people liking it the most out of the trilogy. It's probably because it completely lost the "horror-y" feel that the first two have and is basically a comedy. I think the Evil Dead is a legitimate horror movie, Evil Dead 2 starts to become ridiculous, and Army of Darkness is completely ridiculous. They all have their merits, and I laugh throughout all of AoD, but I like the bit of gore in Evil Dead 2 and think the ridiculous parts are a lot funnier.
JI: What recent horror film really does it for you?
G: George Romero's Diary of the Dead, definitely. I'm a huge fan of just about anything with zombies in it; I read zombie comics, zombie novels, and own almost every mainstream zombie movie there is. Even though Diary is the worst out of the five zombie films Romero has made, I still think it's a decent movie. I'm also looking forward to seeing Midnight Meat Train because I love Clive Barker, and my friends and I are thinking of driving an hour and a half to go see it because it has a limited release.
JI: What's the best thing about living in Wisconsin?
G: The snow, definitely. It isn't as much as other parts of the world but it's enough to be really cool sometimes. It's fun to drive around in a 5.7 liter v8 truck seeing everyone stuck in the 2-3 feet of snow on the road while everything in the entire city is shut down because no one can get to work. Last winter they even cancelled mass at the church by my house, which to me was a lot like cancelling God because the snow was so bad.
JI: And what's the worst thing about living there?
G: A lot of people around here complain that there's nothing to do unless you live around Madison and Milwaukee, and that's true for the most part. Even though my city is somewhat big with the suburbs (50-60k people), there's only one small place for concerts that only has local bands play. It always weirds me out when I go visit some of my friends who moved away and they actually go out to have fun...it just doesn't happen like that around here.
JI: Buddy decides to sell YT to you for a dollar. What's the first thing you change about the site?
G: I'd get rid of the mod accountability thing and basically give them a lot more power. I've always thought that it was pretty ridiculous that there have been 1000+ post threads arguing over why someone got banned...this isn't the only forum I go to and I've never seen anything like it. As far as actual changes I'd change around the movie forum so people can just make threads about whatever. I'd like to talk about directors but don't really want to make a thread in generals.
JI: Who is the best director currently making films?
G: Either Darren Aronofsky or David Lynch. I think that Lynch is one of the most unique and creative people in Hollywood ever, and just about everything he does is good in one way or another, even though it's all pretty weird. Aronofsky is just a personal favorite of mine...Requiem for a Dream is beautiful and it's easy to see his particular style if you watched his earlier movie, Pi. He also works closely with Clint Mansell, who in my opinion is one of the best composers for movies right now.
JI: Why do you think that movies have gone away from having scores for the most part lately?
G: I don't think they have...I think it's that movies nowadays just don't have memorable ones. Other than The Fountain (which actually has Clint Mansell composing), I can't think of anything from the past few years that has a good score. It might be because they're putting less emphasis on the musical part of the movie and more on special effects and stuff like that, which is a huge mistake. I think it was Stephen Spielberg that said that the music is just as important as the actors and every other part of the movie.
JI: Any final words of wisdom to share with your fellow YTers?
G: Don't take this site too seriously. The internet isn't serious business like everyone seems to think.
