Funniest Comments of the Week
In a thread where YTers post pictures of what they looked like as kids:
snowbdr88: Hey, thh, we're about the same size!
thh: That's not what your wife said when she was laughing at me.
In a thread thread about an article on an invisibility cloak, which contained the line 'In this 2003 photo, Tokyo University students use space-age material to make this student appear invisible':
Nico_86: I don't see any photo...?
dacash: Obviously the stuff works...
In a thread on a protest over an allegedly explicit and anti-family A&F ad at an NC mall:
A_C_Jobim: Hiding things from kids is silly. When they find it they just want it more. Example - how many kids care about eggs? None. When you hide them and make the kids have to find the damn things their hands are all over them...
In a thread about Morgan Freeman being in serious condition after an auto accident:
Wertzro: Hope he completed his bucket list.
In a journal about getting a sunburn:
lifeisagony: The last really bad sunburn I had was when I wore sunscreen, wore a hat, got sunburned on my face, anyway. I had this really big blister on my face that accidentally popped while I slept, so it was oozing all over my cheek...and then put aloe vera on it and found out SURPRISE! I'm allergic to aloe vera! when that side of my face swelled up so bad, I could barely see out of my left eye.
catchall: Damn... is that when you picked your username?
Joke of the Week
Totally Bats
Two bats are going for their midnight feed. After an hour or so, one bat gets tired of looking and goes home with no blood.
The other bat comes home with blood dripping from its mouth. The first bat says enviously, "Where did you get all that blood from?"
The second bat replies, "Follow me. I'll show you."
After awhile the second bat leads them to a cave. He says, "You see that wall over there?"
The hungry bat excitedly says, "Yes!"
Other bat says, "I didn't."

JoeInterview's Member Feature
This week's interview features pinkconverse. This interview was conducted by travbowman.
JoeInterview: First off, how did you find YT?
pinkconverse: I confess, I found it through I-Am-Bored. I found out about I-Am-Bored in sixth grade while my friends and I were playing on the internet, then after a year of visiting there, I found my way on to YouThink. I loved answering the questions, but there was the annoying 'JOIN NOW!' between every other question, so I joined. Illegally. *cough*
JI: What would you say is the biggest reason you keep coming back for more?
PC: I like the fact that I've made a few really great friends, but even moreso, it feels like a challenge. I don't know why.. people are a lot nicer to each other in real life, I think. And it feels like a competition on here to see who can be the meanest or nastiest sometimes, and in my own (I guess sick) way, I find that fun.
JI: Who do you think is winning so far?
PC: It's kind of an ongoing thing. If there had to be a winner, it wouldn't be me, though. I'm not the nicest, but there are some people here that make me look like a field of flowers. But that's okay, I've still got a lot time to work on it.
JI: What are you most looking forward to in the upcoming school year?
PC: Health class, I have a hot teacher. Seriously though, more than anything else, cross country. I'm looking forward to this year in hopes that I'll consistently be in the top five, maybe even the top three, in our races. I was in the top five last year, but not consistently. I want that to change.
JI: How long have you been running cross country?
PC: I just started this past year. They didn't have it in middle school, and track interfered with softball. In fact, it was my softball coach who signed me up for it without my knowing, because I always had fun when we ran, unlike the other girls. Bad thing for him though, because while we do suicides and miles, and sprints, etc.. for punishment, I'm usually having a great time!
JI: Did you ever feel like puking after a race?
PC: When I ran my best race at the state qualifiers, I started my finishing sprint way too early. Instead of starting it at 800 meters away, it was a lot closer to 1000 meters away, and I didn't realize it. But I didn't want to stop sprinting, so I pushed myself, and ended up having to lay down face-up on the ground to keep from puking. I ended up earning the point that put my team in 3rd, and only the top three teams can go to state. So it was pretty bittersweet.
JI: Your profile states that you wish to live in Boston. What's the draw to Beantown?
PC: It's not so much the place, as it is my family's sick obsession with New England sports franchises. I am a pretty big fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots, and everyone down here is a fan of the Braves, Marlins, Saints, etc. My dad has been and loved it, so i'd like to go, too.
JI: As a Pats fan, how rough was this year's Super Bowl?
PC: Oh man. I was at this party with a bunch of kids from my school, and I was decked out in Patriots stuff- face paint, t shirt, pajama pants, a hat, pom poms, the works. There were only like, 2 other people there cheering for the patriots, and all of the other 60 or so kids were cheering for NY. And I was SO confident.. it sucked. I got it rubbed in my face all night long. It was a rough, rough night.
JI: Have you ever been to any games up in Boston?
PC: No, but I am in two years. I've never been to any professional sporting events, just college. But I'm hoping that wil change sometime in the not-so-distant future.
JI: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
PC: Ten years? Depending on what I decide to do, I could be anywhere, really. But right now, realistically, I'm really wanting to be a counselor at a school. Or an addictions counselor/therapist. So maybe in school for those. But unrealistically, I'm going to be filthy rich from my four triple-platinum albums and two blockbuster films, and living in some obscure gated community. In my seven story house, with my hot pool boy.
JI: Will you still hop on YT from your mansion?
PC: I won't own a computer, but kind of. I'll be the first person to have this new-fangled microchip installed directly into my brain that allows me to surf the internet whenever, and type simply by thinking. Don't get too excited about it, though. They cost billions.
JI: What sort of music has been getting the most spin from you lately?
PC: I just got the new N.E.R.D album, but haven't been able to listen to it yet. That will soon take over my itunes though, I'm sure. My most recent frequenty played music ranges from Santogold, to Coldplay, to The Aquabats, to Kanye West. I throw a bunch of stuff together and let it play.
JI: What's your most prized possession, and why?
PC: My most prized possession is probably my car now that I have one. But under that is definitely my softball glove. It's only 3 years old, but completely worn in, and all the padding is missing, and I have to tighten it all the time.. but I take it everywhere. it's always in my car or backpack. I hat having to wear someone else's softball glove, no other glove feels just quite right. I've got a lot of (good and bad) memories with this one.
JI: What position do you play in the field usually?
PC: I played infield until the past two years, mainly at third base. But I also played shortshop. Now, I'm usually either the catcher, or in the outfield. I'm the fastest person on the team, an speed isn't quite as valuable in the infield as the outfield. In high pressure situations, I get used as a pinch runner, though. That's actually my best part of the game- running bases. Making the defense make a play and getting safe is a rush of excitement, every single time. There's nothing better!
JI: What's the toughest thing about being a teenager in the US in 2008?
PC: I guess I could say things like peer pressure, and grades.. but that's really not it. For me, the worst part is seeing so many problems with the world, my country, my state, even my city. That's the worst because I, as a 15 year old girl, have little, to no chance, of being able to help any of these problems. And even if I did, there isn't a class called 'Saving the World 101'. I would have no idea how to get anything started. It's hard to get your voice heard and seriously considered when you're a teenager.
JI: So what's the key to staying optimistic?
PC: I guess what I use to stay optimistic is, "It could always be worse." I have been through some hard times in life, and I've hit some lows other people haven't... but I havem't hit the lowest. And I have a wonderful life. I have a home, I have water, I have food, I even have a car. I focus on how wonderful of a life I really do have, even if it doesn't always feel like it. No matter what happens, it could always be worse-the fact that I wake up every morning is enough to keep me optimistic.
JI: When was the last time you had a really good laugh?
PC: Today, actually. My sister and I went to this mardi gras store, and it had "YES, We're Open!' and "OPEN" and "Open, Please come in" signs posted all over the windows, and it ended up being closed. My sister flipped out and pounded on the door, and yelled at the building. After we left, we got stuck in traffic for more than half an hour, and everytime we would stop completely, we would have like, an all-out brawl, pinching and pushing eachother and stupid things like that. We got some pretty awesome looks from the people around us, especially when we would accidentally hit the horn. It's a sister thing.
JI: How close are the two of you in age?
PC: My big sister is 21, and I'm 15, so it's a little more than 6 years. There is a 10 year difference between my big brother and I, though.
JI: Sounds like you are pretty close, despite the age difference.
PC: Yeah, we are. She looks after me a lot, and has been really protective of me since I was little. She is one of the few people I know that I can trust with absolutely anything, and everyone needs somebody like that.
JI: What is your relationship with your parents like?
PC: I don't have any connection with my mom, but my dad is my best friend. Honestly, that may sound cliche, but it's true. Things that i don't even tell my closest friends, I tell my dad. He supports everything I do, 100%, and I know he'll always love me. I'm really lucky.
JI: You get to meet three other YTers anywhere you want. Who is there, and where are you hanging out?
PC: Holly_bolly, secretagent, and kungfullama, at a bonfire. Holly seems like she would have some good stories to tell, and she'd also be a good listener. Secret and I are friends, and he's really funny. I don't know KFL that well, but he makes me laugh, and I bet he'd be a lot of fun to have around.
JI: If Buddy decided to sell YT to you, what would be the first thing you would change?
PC: I would make a key members forum. I think that'd benefit pretty much everyone.
JI: What's the best movie you've seen lately?
PC: The best recent movie I've seen was the Dark Knight. I didn't think I would enjoy it that much, but I did. I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie. I really hope they end it at TDK though, I'm not sure how the third movie would turn out with the way it ended.
JI: Do you have a parting shot to share with your fellow YTers?
PC: Make sure you're happy before you try making others happy.

Why I don’t watch the Olympics
Excerpt: Every four summers the same questions come up. “Are you going to be watching the Olympics?” “Did you catch what happened in the Olympics last night?” People are often surprised when I tell them that I don’t really care for the Olympics.
