Joke of the Week
A couple of Women on Vacation
Two girlfriends are on vacation when they see a five-story store advertising men for sale. They go in and see a first-floor sign that reads "All the men on this floor are short and ugly."
The women decide to take the elevator to the next floor. There the sign reads, "All the men here are short and handsome."
This isn't good enough, so the women continue up. On the third floor the sign reads, "All the men here are tall and ugly."
The women want to do better so they keep going. On the fourth floor the sign reads, "All the men here are tall and handsome."
The women get excited but decide to see what's on the fifth floor. There they find a sign that reads, "No men here. This floor was built to prove there's no way to please a woman."

JoeInterview's Member Feature
This week's interview features BluPineRidge. This interview was conducted by travbowman.
JoeInterview: First off, how did you find YT?
BluPineRidge: I googled trivia and this site came up.
JI: What would you say is the biggest reason you keep coming back for more?
BPR: The biggest reason are the good people here. There are some great people that listen well. There are great story tellers that entertain almost every single day. I am not saying they make up things though. For Monday through Friday I come back to do my trivia games in the Generals forum because there is a group of people who enjoy it and I like to make people happy.
JI: Where do you get all of the questions for the trivia games?
BPR: Some of them I copy directly from websites. Some questions are made from information I copy from websites. Some of the television trivia, I make up myself from shows I know rather well. It's a challenge to keep coming up with different topics so we don't all get bored. It is also a challenge to find a website that the players can't find too quickly. Some players google the answers and some players know or guess the correct answers. It's up to the players conscience how they want to play the game. There is no rule against googling.
JI: When you personally play trivia games, what's your best topic?
BPR: There are several; math, movies, television and geography. I have been learning a great deal researching for these games though.
JI: What's the best thing about living in Michigan?
BPR: The four seasons. There is always some sort of activity you can do during each season to keep busy or fit. I'm happy we do not have poisonous snakes, that I know of, or scorpions or the big bugs that I have heard that Texas has. Another good thing about Michigan is that you are not far from any of the Great Lakes that surround the state.
JI: What's the worst part about living there?
BPR: Humidity and I have to mention the economic climate here. High unemployment, outsourcing jobs, the automotive industry exiting the state, people are leaving the state left and right because of the job situation. I heard we have the highest unemployment rate in the nation.
JI: How did you and your husband meet?
BPR: NAt a wedding that neither of us planned on going to but at the last minute we decided we would.
JI: How long have you been married?
BPR: 19 years just last July 7th.
JI: What's your secret for staying together so long?
BPR: Lol I knew you were going to ask that. Communication and sacrifice. I think there is a great deal of devotion that goes with marriage. I guess not all marriages are the same. We basically are each others best friend and we do most everything together. We have never been bored of each other.
We have several of the same interests but he has things that I am not interested in like gory movies and the sports channel but we have more than one tv set so there is no arguing over what we want to watch. It helps that I was in my late 20's and he was in his early 30's so we knew what relationships were all about and what we wanted out of life.
JI: What tv shows are can't miss events each week for you?
BPR: During the regular season, I watch Lost, Heroes, Amazing Race, Survivor, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, 2 1/2 Men, Ghost Whisperer, King of the Hill and Medium.
That is just a handful really compared to what television used to be. There were entire line ups of good shows each and every night. Now, more and more each year it seems that reality shows are taking up the majority of the airwaves.
JI: What was the best tv show of the 80s?
BPR: That is a toughy really, there are so many good shows from the 80's, I will have to say more than one, Dallas, Little House on the Prairie, MASH, Newhart, Highway to Heaven, just a few that comes to mind tonight. I couldn't say what the best would be nor could I pick out my favorite from the decade.
JI: What was the high school version of Blu like?
BPR: Wild. I lost a lot of weight in 10th grade and suddenly I was popular with the boys. I had two best (girl)friends and when I was out with either of them, it was party time. Alcohol was an easy thing to get back then for minors. I drank to get drunk, to have fun! In twelfth grade I dated an older man, maybe 23 years old, my family never knew about it. Also in twelfth grade I found my first job aside from babysitting; I worked at a pizza and sub shop delivering pizza's and subs as well as making them. Made some good tips back then.
Just like the teen-aged members here, I didn't like school much and I couldn't wait to be done with it all. I did well in some classes and mediocre in others. I nearly flunked Psychology and Physics. My best classes were math and phys ed.
JI: What was the best thing about working in a pizza shop?
BPR: Free pizza I guess. Plus learning all about the business. Being trusted with the cash. The tips were great like I said. I met a guy that I went to senior prom with at another elite high school. He had a car!
JI: Let's say you get to meet any three YTers wherever you choose. Who is there, and where are you meeting up?
BPR: Shutterbug, Jstckndamale and I guess Twisebaker in Hawaii.
JI: Have you ever been to the Aloha state?
BPR: No, but I have always wanted to go there. In Junior High I studied the language a bit. I probably wanted to go there because I watched Hawaii 5-0 all the time, was one of my favorite shows.
JI: Where else would you like to travel that you've never been?
BPR: Scotland, one line of my ancestors are from there. I still want to revisit the Grand Canyon, I visited there when I was a teen and didn't appreciate it enough. I would like to visit the state of Washington again because it is so beautiful and I did not get enough of it while I was in the army, stationed out there. There are other places in the states that still need visiting that I've never been.
JI: Describe your time in the army to us.
BPR: I joined on the Delayed Entry Program in December of 1976 during my senior year. I only joined because I was having problems finding regular work. After signing up, I found my first job in the pizza shop. I finished up high school and at the end of July I went to basic training in Ft Jackson South Carolina. At the end of September or right around that time I went on to AIT school in Ft Rucker Alabama for helicopter repair.
AIT was nothing like basic. Basic was about 19 hours a day and AIT was more like school. You were not required to attend PT. (Physical Training) All you had to do is march to classes everyday, around 8 hours, march back and the rest of the day was your own including weekends.
The barracks for my class was not coed. One building was for the women and one for the men and neither were to visit each other but there was always co-mingling but no one ever got caught. The food was good and plentiful. I had a lot of fun at AIT school. Didn't particularly learn a whole lot but I passed the tests.
After AIT, I was ordered to Ft Lewis Washington. Settled into the routine of working on helicopters. That is about it. I never saw anything else after that.
JI: Did you learn how to fly helicopters as well?
BPR: No, we did not learn to fly, that was for officers. We did fly in them though. I wanted to go to Jump School but I never got around to it, I still want to jump out of an airplane someday.
Also in basic I received an Expert Medal for shooting the M-16, I was rotten throwing the hand grenades though. Also while I was in basic, Elvis Presley died, one of the drill sergeants told us and no one believed her.
JI: Speaking of music, what gets the most spin from you these days?
BPR: I rarely listen to music these days. I have an eclectic tastes though. Garth Brooks, Elton John, Patsy Cline and John Denver are a few of my favorites. I listened to rock up until the time I met my husband in 88, after that it was all country.
I grew up on the likes of what my father listened to, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, Hank Snow, Eddy Arnold, Jim Reeves was a big favorite of my fathers.
JI: What's the story behind your avatar? (pictured above)
BPR: That is my cat. He used to sit facing me with his body going down hill on the back of the monitor but not he has switched to the other way and leaves his tail in the way making it difficult to read the screen. Other members have their personal pictures up of their animals or kids so I wanted something personal too.
JI: It begs another question though, are you guys Packers fans living in Michigan?
BPR: My husband is a big time Packers fan from when he was a young boy, Bart Starr was his favorite. Packers and U of M (GO BLUE!) are his teams. Should he be a Lions fan instead? What a joke!
I prefer College football rather than Pro. When football is on that means cooler weather! Just what I love! My favorite season!
If we win the lottery husband wants to move to Green Bay. He has never been to a game but we did visit Lambeau field a few years back and what a thrill it was. We took a lot of pictures too.
JI: How do you think the Wolverines will adjust to having a new coach?
BPR: They had a good spring practice, like any other Michigan team, they'll adjust. Offense will be more exciting than years past. Defense should be the same, hard nose, bend don't break. Should be right at the top of the Big Ten along with Ohio State, Illinois and Wisconsin and maybe Penn State.
JI: Any final words of wisdom to share with your fellow YTers?
BPR: Live and let live people.

Deliverance
Excerpt: A journey into the dire moments of a confused and mentally unstable cubicle worker. This was thrown together rather quickly, but I can assure you that I wouldn't post it unless I was impressed by it.
