Funniest Comments of the Week

In a thread about a 4-year old shooting herself with a gun she grabbed from her grandmother's purse:
catchall: I know its tough to see past the death of a young, innocent child, but the critically important thing to remember here is that this poor old lady wasn't mugged because she had a handgun in her purse.

In the thread "If you could have a super power, what would it be?":
_godot: The ability to open any jar with the greatest of ease.
jealousblues: They already have that, its called a hammer.
_godot: Oh right the ability to have a hammer.

Q: Do you believe that evolution is the way that we got here?:
_Murklins_: Maybe some people did, but I found this website through google.

Man Sentenced To Prison After Girl's MySpace Page Lies About Age:
heatherlw: This whole thing is absurd.
abzurd: Please keep me out of this, I only went to second base with her.

In a random thread:
heatherlw: Mud, I can't read your terrible wall of lowercase text, but I think it's safe to say neither your nor dacash's personal experiences with Christianity have anything to do with the truth of the matter.
_godot: you can't read lowercase text? interesting.
HylianNinja: DUDE, SHE CAN'T SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE.

Joke of the Week

Math Help

The owner of a golf course was confused about paying an invoice, so he asked his secretary for some mathematical help.

He asked her, "If I were to give you $20,000, minus 14%, how much would you take off?"

She replied, "Everything but my earrings."

JoeInterview's Member Feature

This week's interview features dallaschick. This interview was conducted by travbowman.

JoeInterview: How did you find YT?

Dallaschick: I did a search on a tv show I was watching at the time- Big Brother and YT came up.

JI: What would you say is the biggest reason you keep coming back for more?

DC: My biggest reason to keep coming back would be to discuss all my favorite tv shows and sports. I love that there are people from all over the world discussing what I'm interested in. Plus- I could never keep up with 'Lost' without everyone in that forum...lol...

JI: Have you lived in the DFW area your whole life?

DC: Born and raised. My father's grandparents moved here in the 30's. My dad has some pretty interesting stories about living in Dallas as a boy. Needless to say, it's changed a lot over the years. It's HOT in the summer but overall a great place to live.

JI: What's the best thing about being a Texan?

DC: That's a big question. I can't narrow it down to one-but here are just a few:

Great Tex-Mex and BBQ- I couldn't live without a weekly fix from El Fenix- it has the best Tex Mex in Texas.

Of course you have the Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks & Stars all in one city.

It has a relatively low cost of living compared to some of the other larger cities in the US. A median price of house in the DFW are is around $150,000- so you can get more "bang" for your buck.

The people are really nice (except the ones who make the news!)

No state income tax.

The summers may be hot but the winters are very mild.

I don't know what it is that gives us our "Texan Pride" but I guess it is a pride in our heritage. It's got such a colorful past. I'm actually a seventh generation Texan on my mother's side. Her family came to Texas in a covered wagon from Pennsylvania. That would make my daughter an 8th generation Texan!

JI: How old is your daughter?

DC: She's 3 1/2.

JI: Anything exciting planned for her fourth birthday?

DC: We have a family tradition of going to the Ft. Worth Zoo for her birthday (I hate to say it but it's much better than the Dallas Zoo...lol). Her birthday is in October so the weather is perfect. Her grandmother & grandfather, aunt & uncle, her cousins and of course her mom and dad all go with her. It's a lot of fun.

JI: What did you do before becoming a stay at home mom?

DC: I worked in an Investors Relations department for a large mobile phone company. It was the best job with the best people. I got to travel a lot but they moved the department to New York to be closer to the investors.

I was just starting to interview for another job when I found out I was pregnant, so I just took their buy out package and went home. That was 4 years ago to the day! The timing worked out perfectly for me.

JI: How did you and your husband meet?

DC: We met at college. We were friends for about 2 years before we started dating. We got married when I was 20 & he was 21. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone else but we made it by the grace of God.

I always like to tell people that we grew up together! I wouldn't change anything but I will be sure to tell my daughter to wait until she's older to get married!

JI: What did you study in college?

DC: I actually only got my associates degree. I always meant to go back and finish but I started making really good money doing administrative assistant work and just worked my way up to really good pay and one of the best departments in the company. I still plan on going back- I love school!

JI: What do the Cowboys need to do to finally win a playoff game again?

DC: Tony needs to dump Jessica. Seriously though- Jerry Jones added a lot of players to the roster and hopefully that will help. We've definitely got some good talent now.

I'm excited because they got Zach Thomas which means my husband- who is a life long Dolphin fan- will actually be rooting for the cowboys (when they aren't playing the dolphins of course). Zach is his favorite player in the NFL. I can't wait until the season starts.

JI: What are your thoughts on TO? Is he the bad guy only when he's not playing for your team?

DC: I haven't forgotten that he was the one who danced out on our star when he was playing for the Eagles...but I think he's the type that you love when he's on your team. I know a lot of people don't like him but he's a Cowboy now so I like him. Plus he seems to really like Tony- and if there was ever a quarterback who can work with all different types of personalities it's Romo. He doesn't have the normal ego that goes along with the quarterback position.

JI: No love for baseball? I noticed that you didn't mention the Rangers in the list of local teams you follow.

DC: Oops. No- not a fan of baseball. I never have gotten into it. I don't mind going to a game (as long as I can sit in the shade...lol). Plus- when was the last time the Rangers won anything? Seriously.

I rank them Cowboys first and Mavs/Stars tied for second (I can't choose between them). That's all I have time for.

JI: What's the best restaurant to get barbecue in Texas?

DC: Sonny Bryan's...it started as a little shack in Dallas back in the 30's but now it's a chain. The original place is still the best place to eat it- it's always standing room only and you better get there early because once it's gone, it's gone. It's tiny and you have to sit in little classroom seats but it is the best bbq in town and worth the wait.

JI: What sort of music has been getting the most spin from you lately?

DC: I am so boring when it comes to music. When I am in the car, I usually listen to talk radio. When I'm at home, I watch satellite. I don't listen to a lot of music.

JI: Which talk radio personality intrigues you the most?

DC: I listen mainly to a great sports radio station- it's called 1310 The Ticket (anyone around the world can listen to them on line). There are some other local talk radio hosts but when I do get a minute I usually listen to the Ticket.

I'll stay away from the political stuff...lol

JI: If money were no factor, where in the world would you travel that you've never been to?

DC: I would love to go to Europe. I've been to Greece, Germany & Turkey but I would love to go to Italy & the UK. Or pretty much anywhere in Europe.

I love history so I would really enjoy seeing historically significant sites.

JI: What was Greece like?

DC: It was awesome- I went when I was 18 as a graduation present. I got to see the remains of Corinth (south of Athens) & Ephesus(In Turkey), Mars Hill and many other ancient sites. I think one of the most fascinating things I saw was the cross roads where Oedipus Rex killed his father after fleeing Corinth. It was down in a valley and you could still see where the ancient pathways crossed (Sophocles used this pathway for the setting).

While we were in Turkey, some young men offered my dad some camels for me (I forgot how many). I think they were kidding! lol...

JI: Do you do much travelling now that you have a little one?

DC: That would be a big NO! Lol...Due to current budget restraints, our travel has been limited to the beach at Galveston, Tx. It's a far cry from all the other beaches we've been to in the past!

My husband and I used to go to Florida once a year with many other locations thrown in (Puerto Rico, Cancun, Carribean Islands, etc...). So needles to say, we've got vacation fever right now. Maybe by the end of the year, we'll be able to take a proper vacation.

JI: What's the best beach you've even been to?

DC: That's a hard one. Ft. Lauderdale has some of the most beautiful sand that I've seen but Puerto Rico had some beautiful beaches too!

I think my favorite was the beach at Lindos on the island of Rhodes in Greece. You were in this protective cove so it was calm and the water was clear and just beautiful. The other amazing thing was while you were relaxing in the ocean you could look up and see the ancient Acropolos up on the hill.

I found this picture (above) off a website. I went before the time of digital cameras...lol...that makes me sound so old. I'm only 34.

JI: Your favourite celebrity is coming over for dinner. Who is it, and what are you making for them?

DC: That's a hard one because my favorite actor (right now) is Joaquin Pheonix. I know he is a vegan (and I am not!!) so I would have no idea what to cook for him...lol...

Plus- he would see leather at my house.

JI: Do you have any words of advice to share with your fellow YTers?

DC: My advice would be to not take yourself or your situation so seriously- life is too short! If you think you have it bad- just look at someone else's situation and know that it could always be worse. That always helps me!
