Funniest Comments of the Week
In a thread about euthanasia:
Abzurd: I don't have a better reason to disagree than "opening that door will eventually bring irreversible new moral problems." That's why I like it when it stays in the grey.
jealousblues: Think of the slippery slope! If you let people do this, the next thing you know people are going to be euthanizing their dogs!
Random Thread:
kingconan92: I once ordered a block of porn. It cost 12 bucks and was such crap. They need previews.
catchall: Who knew porn came in blocks? Sheesh, toddlers these days.
Random Thread:
tulip: Benda needs a enema.
birdsong4j: I bet if you rearrange that, there's a palindrome in there somewhere...
bendaman: Too many odd amounts of letters for it to work.
birdsong4j: You're so right, and palindrome was SO not the word I was looking for. Let's try "anagram" instead...that'll teach me to post while drinking. benda needs an enema = banana needed semen.
In the 'gay friends' thread in the General forum where the author professed to crying when her best friend came out to her:
hellonicole: I have no idea. Its not like I am upset with him. Maybe it's just cause I am a woman.
Lou Two: Are you sure he knows that? Otherwise he might be put off telling other people.
dacash: On the one hand, I'd think it pretty strange if he didn't know she was a woman. On the other, it might explain why he came out to her first.
From a Suggestion thread that turns to talk of modliness:
Boredofu: Hey I didn't "burn" anything. I got caught up in Kiki's mad quest for global domination.
Lou Two: Narf! What are we up to tonight Kiki? Same thing we do every night Bored. Try to take over the website!
Joke of the Week
Prayer before dinner
A wife invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said, "Would you like to say the blessing?"
"I wouldn't know what to say," the girl replied.
"Just say what you hear Mommy say," the wife answered.
The daughter bowed her head and said, "Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"

JoeInterview's Member Feature
This week's interview features MP5. This interview was conducted by chips2001, Amyla516, and travbowman.
JoeInterview: How did you find YT?
MP5: I found YT thanks to fellow conservative Explodo. He mentioned it on another site that us neocons visit and rage on. I googled YT, lurked for a little bit and then entered the world of the newbie forum. Soon after I went into Generals and joined the political debate.
JI: What is it that keeps you coming back?
MP5: I'm addicted, and until my intervention is scheduled I don't see any other way out. I have a few good friends that I talk to daily, and I love reading about other peoples lives.
JI: Do you have any other addicitons?
MP5: Besides women, sex, porn, football and xbox 360 I am clean and sober. Well at least clean.
JI: You mentioned that you're a conservative. What or who formed your political opinions? What do you find most off-putting or wrong about liberalism?
MP5: Growing up, my parents were staunch Democrats. they were rather dixiecrat in their racist views, and I took an instant dislike to that. I guess my political opinions were formed out of seeing Ronald Reagan, leading the country out of the mess we were in.
What puts me off about liberalism is how it stifles personal iniative and I don't the idea of relying on the government for anything other than what they are required to do for public safety. I am, however, moving more to the center with a lot of my beliefs. I believe some social programs are good for helping people on a temporary basis. I support the 2nd Amendment just as vigorously as I do the 1st.
JI: What's behind the name "MP5"?
MP5: I've been in the Marine Corps for over 15 years and that is my favorite weapon I've used. Specifically the Heckler & Koch version. It is very handy especially in a close quarters battle situation.
JI: When did you decide that a military career was right for you?
MP5: I knew I wasn't ready for college and the excitement of manual labor quickly wore off.
JI: What do you think you gained from serving in the Marines?
MP5: Quite a bit. An appreciation for how well we have it in the United States. Not to take freedom for granted. I've met so many wonderful people from other countries in my travels with the Marine Corps. I appreciate other cultures more from this experience. I've seen the poorest of the poor in Somalia and escorted congressional delegations while traveling on Air Force 2. Not bad for a hick like myself.
JI: Tell me about your home town. What does it feel like?
MP5: Have you ever seen the movie Deliverance? Nah actually it is a very small town with lots of antique shops. So I guess the feeling would be old or historical. Lots of civil war battles where I live. It is primarily a farming area. The town had about 600 people when I was growing up. It didn't have a stop light and a police force of two. Now with the population boom I'm proud to say we now have a stop light in front of the Food Lion.
JI: Do you know how to milk a cow?
MP5: Yes, but what happens on the farm, stays on the farm.
JI: So where are you living now, and what keeps you there?
MP5: I live in Northern Virginia now. My Reserve unit is in the area, as well as my civilian job. Although this is an expensive area, jobs pay quite well around here.
JI: What do you do for a living, when you're on Civvie Street?
MP5: I am an intelligence analyst for the Department of the Navy.
JI: What's the best way to while away a rainy Sunday?
MP5: That would depend on the scenario and if you were alone or not. By myself it would be reading, watching football, eating HoneyNut Cheerios.
JI: Tell me about a book you have read recently that made an impression.
MP5: "Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10." It is a testimony to brave men, that left me proud to be serving my country with warriors like this.
JI: Is it important that the public be made aware of what service people go through via books like this, or is it more important that operations be kept secret, so as to not give any tactics away?
MP5: The main items that need to remain secret would be if the source of intelligence gathered for the operation was still being used or perhaps some equipment that is classified. Other than that I think these books are good for the public. Regardless of your stance on the war, there are people who are risking their lives daily to try and eliminate terrorists.
JI: What movie has had the most accurate portrayal of the US military?
b>MP5: I don't know if one movie has really portrayed it completely accurate. Full Metal Jacket was accurate for Marine boot camp during the Vietnam era up to the point Pvt Pyle snuck rounds for his M14 back to the squadbay. I would say my choice for most accurate would be Blackhawk Down. Honorable mention to Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan.
JI: Do you have a plan, in terms of what you want out of life, or are you more of a 'go with the flow' kinda guy?
MP5: I would say an even mixture of both. I'm very goal oriented, but don't mind jumping off the path to follow something that seems worthwhile.
JI: What do you enjoy about camping?
MP5: It would probably be the sights and smells of people living in close proximity who aren't bathing and using indoor plumbing. There's always the communing with nature angle as well.
JI: What sort of music are you into?
MP5: I seem to go through phases where I find a group or certain genre of music I like, and thanks to itunes I find similar groups. Right now I'm into a kind of Muse, Keane, Interpol phase. Of course I can't discuss music without saying how much I love Rush. I thiink they are the most overlooked and talented band. Oh, and I've also recently discovered "The Black Keys". They are a duo that sings bluesy rock.
JI: Current avatar (pictured above) is a nod to "Arrested Development". Any theories as to why it didn't last very long as a series?
MP5: Oh man, don’t get me started. That question has puzzled me since the show was canceled. I get especially bitter when I see shows like “Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader” on TV. I think to enjoy the show you had to follow along very closely because you would only get some of the humor if you were familiar with the show. I just don’t think the average American’s attention span is long enough, or maybe the fact it wasn’t taped before an audience or a laugh track wasn’t used. Also if you look at the Nielsen ratings, the top 5 shows are usually the 3 airings of American Idol, Moment of Truth, maybe Survivor. These are all non-scripted shows for the most part, and this seems to be the trend.
Rumor has it that there maybe an Arrested Development movie in the works, so I got that going for me.
JI: Who was the best character on the show?
MP5: Thats a tough question. I like all the characters and each one has their own unique style of humor. I would say funniest would be Gob, with Tobias a very close second. Best character overall I think is George Bluth sr. He lied, cheated, poisoned people with muffins, marketed unsafe cornballers, etc, but was still so likeable. I like Michael as a character as well. Some of the funnniest moments are his comments in dealing with the craziness of the family. I'm such a dork about this show..ha
JI: Any final words of advice for your fellow YTers?
MP5: Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars. I'm not the best one to give advice to YT'ers. August will be 4 years here for me, and I don't have 2500 posts yet. If you want advice about being anonymous I'm you're guy. I guess one piece of advice I would give to newbies would be to do more reading and less posting. Learn how the place works and start out by commenting on others posts before making your first "I'm bored or board" thread.
