EhFahQ: What a sad story. At least they had a really sharp DJ. As soon as she hit the floor, he faded in Billy Idol's 'Dancing with Myself'

Joke of the Week

Talking parrot

One day a man went to an auction. While there, he bid on a parrot. He really wanted this bird, so he got caught up in the bidding. He kept on bidding, but kept getting outbid, so he bid higher and higher and higher.

Finally, after he bid way more than he intended, he won the bid - the parrot was his at last!

As he was paying for the parrot, he said to the Auctioneer, "I sure hope this parrot can talk. I would hate to have paid this much for it, only to find out that he can't talk!"

"Don't worry." said the Auctioneer, "He can talk. Who do you think kept bidding against you?"

JoeInterview's Member Feature

This week's interview features NicolesLove. This interview was conducted by chips2001, Amyla516, and travbowman.

JoeInterview: How did you find YT?

NicolesLove: KCSgirl. we used to be part of a small tight-knit forum on dailyconfession.com that was kind of dying. one day she said showed us YT and that's how YT got me. And wildhunt.

JI: What would you say is the biggest reason you keep coming back for more?

NL: I have no where else to go. At first yt was much more of a small forum which I liked. Once it got bigger... I don't know. I just had no place better to spend my 20 hours a day online. Maybe I'm a masochist. I got bashed nonstop for my somewhat annoying perky sugar-high like personality but kept coming back. Plus now I have to gossip with the house people in tv and the Harry Potter people in books everytime something happens with either!

JI: What's been the best Harry Potter translation from book to film in your opinion?

NL: Hmmmmmmmmm. I rather like how they did the quidditch matches. Though I have to admit, the best thing about the movies vs the books is that the movies have Alan Rickman in them as Snape. He plays that part so perfectly. Unlike some people *cough new Dumbledore*.

Other than that, and the beautiful backdrop the created, they really don't compare to the books.

JI: What attracts you to the books? What is so good about them, in your opinion?

NL: They give so much more detail. Plus all the people in my head are good actors--everyone says every line exactly how I want them to. Though I have to admit, I shunned HP until about the 5th book came out. Then I listened to that one on audiobook at work since it was the only free audiobook I could find. Then got hooked.

I love sci fi but don't like aliens. I like young adult books but don't like 'like omg my bf left me' books. HP is a good combo of both--I especially like books that create a whole new world which is so what HP is all about. And so well written. They just take you in and you don't even realize it.

And I'd like to give a shout out to Jim Dale, that guy reading those book is just heavenly. His voices (except his McGonagall.. he makes her sounded like a batty old cuckoo bird) make those books come alive so much. I prefer the audiobooks to actually reading, and I love to read.

JI: You joined YT in 2002. What would you say has changed about you since that time?

NL: Everything I hope. Technically I joined in 2001--I'm 22 now, I was 15 then and quite a mess really. YT was witness to much of my craziness and instability. I was going through a bunch of personal crap that is such the definition of a loveline call. I'd like to think I grew up a bit, don't take insults so seriously. I don't think I'm quite as psycho, which is good.

I think I'm more independent, not leaning on other people so much. Then again, I do come to YT for just about every decision I make still. I feel like a grown up now well, somewhat.

JI: What got you interested in dance?

NL: I really wanted to be a gymnast when I was younger, I would always do 'routines' on the front lawn. My parents always refused to get me into lessons though and there is only so much you can teach yourself in gymnastics without breaking your neck so I did half gymnastics half dance. At 13 they finally gave in and put me in dance classes. Dance is really the only thing I have talent in, and a passion for. I love choreographing, trying to think of new ways for the body to move, new shapes and phrases to create.

I tried to follow the 'realistic route' for awhile, majoring in a 'normal' major but I had no drive, no ambition for them so of course they didn't work. I went against eeeeeeeeeeverything my family was saying and here I am, on my own, majoring in dance at college. Either on my way to becoming a famous dancer/choreographer or a bum.

JI: Which style of dance is your favourite?

NL: Hip hop. Then modern. My personal style is a combination of both. Though all dance types interest me. I find ballet incredibly boring though. But shhh don't tell anyone, I'll get kicked out of the dance cult! I love watching hip hop, contemporoary, tap, and any kind of latin dance, salsa and whatnot. I like dancing hip hop and hip/modern and trying to badly do salsa. I never had good tapping feet.

JI: What movie features the best dance numbers?

NL: Oh god. I can't choose just one. I'll just list them all. Well wait. I can choose one. Singing in the rain, by far, the best. You've got the, of course, 'singing in the rain' number, which is just perfect. But then there's also 'the lady in the green dress' sequence, the 'make 'em laugh' scene, etc. just, one of THE best dance movies ever.

-white christmas has good dancing.

-all that jazz is essential. Bob Fosse= genius

-you got served- horrid plot, horrid, not very good acting either. But good dancing.

-centerstage is pretty good.

-oh forgive me but dirty dancing

-flashdance, though I'm sorry but that end number just doesn't cut it for me

-fast forward. Which no one remembers and I can't find anywhere. But it was one of the first hip-hop type dance movies I ever saw. I'm STILL trying to find that thing, I loved it when I was a kid.

I'm probably forgetting some I'm gonna kick mysef for.

JI: Can you break dance?

NL: OH I have a picture I could show you of my 'skills' but I'll just go with no. I've been trying to teach myself all the floor stuff though, seriously but I so don't have enough arm strength.

JI: What's the best thing about living in New York?

NL: Hm. 6-8 hours away from NYC, depending on who's driving. I LIVE for nyc. Let's see, the weather's crappy. Not really close to anything. It's pretty in fall. Canada's a hop, skip, and jump. I like being a NYer though, I don't know why.

JI: Has Hillary Clinton been a good Senator for your state?

NL: I have no idea. I'm not a political person. I really don't hear any bitching about her in terms of NYers though.

JI: Do you plan on voting in November?

NL: I do. I figure I have the summer to figure out what everyone is about and for.

JI: Your profile indicates that your heart is in the South. Why is that?

NL: My boyfriend, who is bamagitarman on here, lives in Alabama. We met on here and have been chatting for about 6 years. He's been trying to visit me/ move up here for about 3 years. Possibly more, we can't remember.

Something always goes wrong though. He got into an accident. His car died. The place he was renting up here got rented out from under him, so when he got here he had no place to live. He was sick. There was a blizzard and got stuck in Kentucky. Etc. This time his ulcer started acting up, in Indiana, and now he's been in the hospital, in Indiana, for the past two weeks while they figure out how to make him better. And each time it drains his savings.

We are starting to think fate doesn't want us together. But thus why my heart is in the south. or, Indiana at the moment. Wow what a sob story that is. I should write to Oprah.

JI: Have you given any thoughts to moving to wherever he is?

NL: Selfishly, no. He says I'm not the only reason he's coming up, we have good schools he wants to go to up here. But really, I don't think I could. First of all I can't drive, second I like my school, third I'm not a very independent person. And the culture shock. We both know if he doesn't come up here then...that's that. If I wasn't such a dependent hermit or if he lived a little closer than bama, somewhere in NY would be nice I'd be there. But I just can't. I'm just a bad girlfriend like that.

JI: What did you first notice about bama?

NL: his homework skills. I IMed him in a frantic state of "omg i don't know how to do this hw, i know i've never talked to you and you have no idea who i am but can you help me?" After that, when we just chatted, he was so respectful it was so cute. He won me over with it.

JI: Any reason you don't have a driver's license?

NL: Don't have to. Nothing has really forced me to get it. In my town I can walk to just about anywhere I want to get to and if I can't, I don't get there. I never get to walmart because to get there I have to walk an hour and cross a highway. I can catch rides from people for different things I HAVE to get to, like jury duty and whatnot.

Mostly laziness and procrastination though. Plus I know once I get it I won't walk as much. And that's just sad to me. Plus little things like, I don't have a car, can't afford a car. No one will/I don't want them to teach me how to drive. The only volunteer I have is my mother and I... oh. yea. we'd end up killing each other. She taught my sister, or started to teach my sister until my sister refused to drive with her anymore.

But yea. I'll get it eventually. I was close, about a month ago, getting all my 6 points of ID together but now I'm all caught up in college and its back burner again. Excuses, excuses.

JI: You've been on jury duty? What was that experience like?

NL: I was, it was exciting. I loved the whole getting paid for sitting and reading all day thing. I never left the big room. I also had to call my father to take me, who I haven't seen in about a year or two, so that was more interesting than jury duty.

Though it amazed me that there was about 400 people in that room and no one talked to one another unless they already knew them. Crazy. Everyones bored off their ass and no conversation. You have no idea how bad I wanted to start a poker game or scrabble contest.

JI: Are you any good at scrabble?

NL: Not at all. I'm more of an upwords/ scattergories kinda person. Though I LOVE board games of any kind. If anyone organizes a weekend long YT board game tournament I am so there.

JI: Have a parting shot to share with your fellow YTers?

NL: Hmm. Get your sleep. Live your life. Be a dork.
