SmiloDan: Oh. My hero is in a wheelchair. Sorry.

Random thread:
SoulTrain: I am looking for a song title. The song is about a girl who finds out she has cancer and her boyfriend shaves his head for her cause she is upset thinking no one will take her to the prom without any hair. It's a country song.
Spawnee: A baldy but a goodie.
From a thread titled "What site does your surname .com bring up?":
Daffydoll: Jesus f*cking Christ! ...porn?
killer_tofu: HOT JESUS ON JESUS ACTION!!!
Thread titled "Girls With Tattoos":
Anavrin_Jame: I have a tramp stamp, but it is a cross. So does that kind of negate the "tramp" part?
c2h6o: So you get wild missionary style.
Random journal:
shamies31: Two kids from my school got stabbed the other night. They're still in the hospital. They're my friend Jake's friends. He's really upset, which is understandable, but he keeps looking to me to make him feel better. I really am not good at this stuff. I never know what to say or anything. What have/would you say to a friend who just had something like this happen to them?
secretagent: Well, to start the conversation, a good "Knife to meet you." will get things rolling. When he obviously turns to you for support, just tell him, "Don't worry. You can turn to me. I won't stab you in the back." If you're still stumbling for words, just yell "Cut!" and start over.
In a thread in the Games forum, asking users to contribute to a script for a game:
Hard-core07: "This game is for the Xbox360 and is about
InstinctSage: To fail miserably."
In a thread discussing a ghost in a YTer's home:
tulip: Seems odd to me that anyone would hypothesize any type of spirit surviving if they subscribe to Darwinism.
mcgoodness: I cancelled my subscription last week and BAM! Spirits everywhere.
In an thread about a girl whose feet were severed by a Six Flags ride:
snowbdr88: Apparently she wasn't tall enough to meet the "you must be this tall to ride this ride" requirement. Turns out she's two feet short!
In the "old man kills mugger" thread about a bus of senior citizens fighting back:
jealousblues: This should be an old Black Sabbath song...somehow.
Killraven: Oldies bus-tour in their masses... Try to mug 'em, they'll kill your asses...
roselady: Evil minds that plot to plunder...Grandpa put one six feet under...
Jesse: Through the coast the muggers fleeing...While the old folk can't help peeing...
Abzurd: Thought he could best this grandfather...In a head lock met his final hour.
Jesse: OH LAWDJEA!
Jokes of the Year
Jack Bauer Rd.
The city of Los Angeles once named a street after Jack Bauer in gratitude for his saving the city several times. They had to rename it after people kept dying when they tried to cross the street. No one crosses Jack Bauer and lives.

JoeInterview's Member Feature
These interview questions are excerpts from interviews throughout the year, asked by Chips2001, amyla516, angi, and travbowman.
JoeInterview: You recently did a stint in New York. How was life in the Big Apple?
Ophelia*: At the risk of sounding like a crazy existentalist; It was everything and nothing all at once. It was the hub of the Western world, it was convenience, it was culture. Somehow, it still managed to feel like the lonliest place on earth. I did have the time of my life. I snuck into a handful of Broadway shows, was featured in the media as an up-and-coming fashion designer (long story!) and came back a new person in some small ways. I loved that city more than my own hometown, and I'm sure I'll be back there again soon. This time, for keeps!
JI: How did you celebrate Eid?
mudassar: Non stop eating. Well kind of. Eid only really starts after you have gone to the Eid prayer congregation, which i did. Then when i got back i 'greeted' my family, that would usually include a gift for younger siblings/relatives in the house. I'm still a student so i'm excused. Then we phoned every single living relative that is still alive wishing them a happy Eid. It's kind of a ritual thing that we go to my uncles on eid, so we did and went to have lunch there, it was roast chicken, rice and Rasmalai for dessert. Yummy.
JI: Do you find it easy to spot the guilty from the innocent, or do you change your mind a dozen times before the verdict is revealed?
Cindy_: I usually don't go back and forth between guilty and innocent, because I try to reserve that until the end of the trial. But the TV jury and I rarely ever agree. I have the luxury of sitting at home and seeing all sorts of information that they aren't allowed to see, though. I think there were maybe 2 cases out of all I've watched that the jury and I actually agreed on the verdict.
JI: What was it like living in Blacksburg after the shootings at VT?
birdsong4j: In a word, insane. My parents both work in Blacksburg (my mom at VT), so knowing they were okay was the big thing. I actually got the news from my mom, and she said dad was fine too - I was lucky to talk to them early, since cell circuits and campus phone lines were tied up for HOURS that day. Then my husband called me from home and said that police were driving up and down the streets of our neighborhood (about 1/2 mile from campus) with bullhorns telling everyone to stay inside.
The biggest shock besides the actual shooting was seeing the difference between national and local media coverage. I couldn't believe how many national reporters started playing the blame game, even as early as the first night. It seemed like they got the angriest, most upset parents, and put them on TV as if they represented the majority. I can tell you that the typical attitude around town was SUPPORT of Pres. Steger and the administration, not the anger that cable channels showed.
JI: Is science as incompatible with religion as it seems?
Catchall: As long as you don't choose to interpret religious texts literally, there is no need for the two to ever really conflict. The vast majority of people don't have any problem with the two. Its just that the minority of people who do are extremely vocal, and not always in a good way. I'm not only talking about the religious fundamentalists. Its some biologists do more harm than good in this matter as well.
JI: It appears Scotland is marching slowly, but inexorably towards independence. A good thing or a bad thing?
Brunnen_G: Undoubtedly a good thing. The Westminster parliament has to act in the interests of the greatest amount of people it can. Since the bulk of the population live in the South of England, this naturally means they will be a politician's first concern. Scotland has a small population and therefore gets sidelined. If we were independent, we could look after our own affairs, be big boys and girls and maybe, just maybe realise that our country's problems are the fault and responsibility of the people of Scotland. Basically, it's time we grew up.
JI: Name three actresses you would like to play you as a teenager, a thirty-something and a 50-year old. What would the film of your life be called?
Sexiemama1: I think I'd have Lindsay Lohan play the teenaged me. I wasn't *quite* as wild as she is, but I was close. I also wasn't nearly as stupid, but oh well. That's who I'd want to play me. As for the thirty-something me, I'd go with Kristin Davis. Charlotte is my favorite from Sex and the City, and I really like her. That's really the only thing I'd base that choice one. And for the 50 year old me...Barbra Streisand. I've loved Babs since I was a little girl and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I'm not exactly sure what it would be called, but probably something along the lines of "It Goes On."
JI: I notice you are an electrical engineer. What does your job entail?
spitroaster: Originally I worked on large industrial installation projects, occasionally commercial, but over the years and jobs my responsibilties and duties have changed considerably. These days most of my work is involved with the control systems of fixed heavy plant and the telemetric monitoring of poisonous gases involved. Not the most exciting of jobs but I like it alright, and besides, I'd enough excitement when I was younger to last me another few years. Ehm, that's really all I'd like to tell you about my job, if I said anymore it would be blatantly obvious who my employer is, and Northern Ireland is a small place; and one of the things I like about YT is the anonymity.
JI: What's the best part about being Canadian?
brockgurl86: Knowing it could have been worse, and I could have been American! Seriously though, I think it just the idea that everyone is so different, and it's ok to be different. Canada prides itself on diversity, and you really do see that when you walk down the streets. The opportunities that are available to you in Canada are wonderful as well. My parents were teenagers in the 80s in Ireland, and they are constantly telling me how much more opportunities we are given here, as opposed to back home.
JI: How would you introduce a novice to Led Zep? What would you suggest they listen to first? What is the definative track/album?
Zep Fan: Honestly, I don't even listen to Zeppelin much anymore. My tastes shift from time to time, and right now I'm not feeling very into harder music. But if I thought somebody might like Led Zeppelin, I would have them listen to their second album first. I think it pretty much sums up their sound, and those tracks haven't been TOO overplayed yet. In fact, their second album is the answer to both of your questions. As for the definative song... I would say Ten Years Gone. I'm so biased, though.. I love their third album and Houses of Holy the best, but those two are a little too far away from Zeppelin's usual sound, in my opinion.
JI: What's the greatest ska album ever, in your opinion?
ihearcalling: Oh, that one's too easy. The soundtrack from the 1972 movie "The harder they come", starring Jimmy Cliff. It's an amazing cross-section of what I feel to be the peak of first wave ska, and the real wind-up and takeoff of reggae. It features such greats as Desmond dekker and the aces, toots and the maytals, the melodians, and of course, Jimmy Cliff. An all-around amazing compilation, and I'd reocmmend it to absolutely anyone. the film is pretty good, too.
JI: What are people's most common misconceptions about you? On YT or real life - you choose.
cpayne: On YT, the only misconception I can recall ever having was most people assumed I was white. It was funny to be honest. In life, the biggest misconception is that because I don't voice my opinions as often or as loudly as everyone else, a lot of people just assume I don't care and that I'll go along with anything. I've got strong opinions on pretty much any topic you can think of, I'm just not always forthcoming with them. Also, because I'm always upbeat and happy looking, most people just assume I'm always in a good mood. Even some of my close friends don't realize when my mood changes sometimes. Those who don't know me as well they do seem to think of me as some sort of happy automaton.
JI: When did your Siegfried and Roy "thing" start?
Raphael: Haha, well when I was a wee lass, I went to see their show and then about a year laterish, I semi forgot about them. When Roy was bitten (almost four years ago now!) I got interested again, except this time in, the boys themselves more than the animals. Since then I've managed to collect around 270 pictures of them (both edited and unedited(I have one picture of Siegfried superimposed on a cracker) and have gathered four contacts who all do some kind of fan appreciation arts, one draws these fantastic Disney/animeesque cartoons of them. and the cats too. Oh and five good-natured parody alters of them.
JI: What is the most difficult species to deal with?
Puzzle23: No contest on this one - the most difficult species to deal with is the kinkajou. Not only are they completely unpredictable, they look like gremlins with tails! One minute they're gazing up at you lovingly with those big, gorgeous eyes...and the next minute, they've lodged their canines right into your forearm with little or no warning. Match that up with their intellegence (they can reason and problem solve at the level of a 3-year old) and you've got a fast-moving, dexterious, smart-as-a-whip gremlin - with a tail.
JI: I see you are a fan of Project Runway. How did you feel about the third season; were you surprised by any of the eliminations or challenges?
troglodyte22: The biggest surprise for me was Michael Knight. When I saw the advertisements for the new season, he seemed pretty pretentious, and I was ready to dislike him. When I started watching some of the episodes, he grew on me, and he became one of my favorites (after Vincent, of course). I was really disappointed when he flopped in the final showing at the New York Fashion week. It seemed like there was no chance he'd lose, so I was suprised when Jeffrey won.
JI: Any final words of wisdom to share with YT-land?
Tezmata: Wisdom? Uh... a little happiness goes a long way. Even on days where it seems like the whole world is out to get you, try to think of five things that happened that day, however insignificant, that made you smile. It sounds really cheesy but it really does help. Pay somebody a compliment and make them smile. I bet you'll smile too! Always go the extra distance for another person because you never know when you'll be relying on them! Let's make a world covered in happiness!
