| I know it's spelled wrong  Anyway, I'm writing a very dense novel summary, and I'm looking for opinions. Just, any opinions on how I can improve it to make it more ... "sellable" Here's some excerpts: The novel opens with the powerful Countess Varlamova, sitting on the porch of her country estate, very much not enjoying the hot June day. The Countess is a stern and powerful woman who criticizes everyone from sullen peasants to her own noble circle. She is served water by Katerina, a young woman and distant relative of the Countess. Stricken by unfortunate family circumstances, Katerina was taken in by the Countess, but has instead become more of a servant than a family member. Katerina responds to the Countess’s abuse with gentle good humour, but in her head, rebels at every word her powerful patron utters. |
