i really enjoyed it. amazing visuals, nice conceit, well defined characters and some decent acting.

the plot got a bit silly towards the end, one pretty major plot twist didn't sit right with me. but it didn't ruin an interesting exciting movie.

I couldn't possibly make an honest and objective criticism of this movie because <hysterical> Cillian Murphy's in it!!!</hysterical>

Apart from that, it was dubious from a scientific point of view (as always with this genre) and the plot was very predictable but still, it was not as bad as I expected it to be. Really nice images and rather good acting as a whole.

But I don't understand why the burnt man was there

It was all very impressive until they linked up with the other one. Then it completely changed and I just found it boring. All it was doing from then on was trying all the pathetic tricks it could think of to make my jump in my seat... Highly disappointing after the quality of the first two thirds. The first two thirds weren't amazing... but for the genre, they were good.

Like dolphine said above, 'Sunshine' was very compelling for part of its running time. It had interesting characters and conveyed great mood.

Unfortunately, during its second half 'Sunshine' became a mess, and something of a retread of '2001', Alien' and even 'Event Horizon' (ugh).

The burnt man spoilt it

I mostly agree with what was said; the movie took a turn for the worse after they joined up with the other ship (actually, after they left the other ship is probably more accurate).

But besides some questionable decisions in the ending, I enjoyed it. It posed some interesting questions about the psychology of the characters; it reminded me a bit of 28 Days Later because of that.

Although the story turned to crap when they meet up with the 1st ship, I still think this is one of the best sci-fi movies made in years.

Just saw a preview last night......cant wait to see it on the big screen, in full quality.

I think now that I know how it turns out, I will enjoy it even more.

While visually stunning, and boasting a spectacular soundtrack, Sunshine remains a disappointment.

I think the ending of the movie could have been much better if they hadn't used that stupid blurry camera effect whenever the burnt man was on screen. It made it look far too much like they couldn't be arsed to make an impressive looking bad guy.

The film was very interesting though. I did enjoy it.

a cornocopia of sci-fi rip-offs that steadily got worse as it went along. i'd rather of watched one of the films it stole from.

Once again, SpaceMonky proves he has no taste.

While watching this film I though to myself "thank god this is a beautiful, well written movie and not some piece of crap like "Event Horizon", and than, 1 hour and 15 minutes in, it becomes Event Horizon.


I don't know if I can persuade anyone to watch this movie but turn it off after they leave Icarus I, but it would be in your best interests.

Yea I know, I was pissed when they flew into hell, just like in Event Horizon
