I wonder how many films would get released if they only made films based on new ideas only
And also, not based on something that "happened irl" or based on a book/comic/graphic novel/video game or is a sequel/prequel

That's the part that bugged me in Breakfast Club.

I have to be honest, The Breakfast Club is just alright to me.

Sixteen Candles is where it's at for me as far as John Hughes 80s teen movies go.

Maybe 1.

Humans have been telling the same stories for thousands of years.

I'd like a moratorium on "reboots" for franchises where the originals are <25-30 years old to start with.

Plot devices: this happens more in sitcoms than movies, but anything where the major players could solve the disagreement/misunderstanding/whatever just by having a simple, short conversation with each other (but they don't).

Also I won't say this should NEVER happen again, but any (new) thing with a "Gift of the Magi" type plot device is on very thin ice as far as I'm concerned.

If it weren't for this Freddie Prinze Jr. would never have had a career.

Gosh, that would have eliminated Burns and Allen completely, both from radio and later from TV.

I had a dream last night where I was in a movie where everything that often happens in movies had to happen which was so annoying and reminded me of this thread.
