bohemian rhapsody is great but the more the cast talks about “how they didnt know about bryan singer what omg hes such a great guy” the less interested i am in seeing it win any awards

and also brian may said something that just made me kinda icked out.

my only problem with the film itself was how they made freddie’s bisexuality.... predatory? like that scene where he’s on the phone with his fiancee and then showed him go f-ck the guy in the bathroom just felt really.... off

otherwise its a great film

One Cut of the Dead - extremely low budget [$28k] Japanese zombie/comedy movie.

It was pretty fantastic. I'd tell you more, but the more you know, the less effective it is.

Mary, Queen of Scots - turgid, slow, boring. DullAF. And I love Tudor history.

i watched the hateful eight last night per the recommendation of my coworker. not really my coworker. really my relative subordinate. i mean not my direct subordinate. but definitely makes less money then me and might be able to tell them what to do. they could tell me no.

but anyway. it was ridiculous. the woman did a good job. it suspends reality a bit too much for my taste, but for a narrative driven story as it was i can see it going into some kind of hypothetical or dream sequence kind of situation. not a big fan of stories like that.

and what the hell was that white stripes song in the beginning? i mean.

i think i got it. but it's just so wide a lens. and so much banter. and intentionally not witty a lot of it. there were some satisfying sequences. i want to say i just didn't like it, but i think tarantino wanted you to kind of not like it, so it kind of works.

i saw the new a star is born
i LOVED the opening so much. everything up to her going on the big stage and the first big song and maybe a bit after that.
and then it got kind of tedious for the rest of the film until the last song which was f*cking great
performances were great, the singing was fantastic (although i didn't care for the more poppy songs in the middle )

so my problem with a star is born is the ending. i didnt like the thematic way she was like “well he was the WORST but i guess i love him forever so let me just return to my roots and prove that a ‘man’s love is more important than anything else”

That's been on my list to watch for a while.

I knew that you were referring to Paterson above.

I've heard he's amazing in The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, too, but we don't get a U.S. release of that until this March, though it's been shown other places last year.

I watched roma tonight
it’s pretty slow, but oddly compelling

I don’t think it’s anywhere close to the best movie of the year, but it’s definitely a good watch

Mission: Impossible - Fallout

The movie was pretty run of the mill until the last 30 minutes or so, when it actually got exciting.

Something was off about it though. The acting, the directing, the pace of the movie, … something.
