Lincoln is doing well in theaters. Not like in real life.

this sure is a Steven Spielberg movie. this is basically like Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom. it's really really good, but it's almost paint by numbers. we know you can make a movie like this. you've done it a few times now. he's too good a director to make it. or something

Few of Takei's are original to him. He does do a good job of filtering however. By the way, I got this one from another source.

I can't wait to see this. It ticks so many boxes for me.
Historical biopic? Awesome! DDL in full on genius mode? Fine by me! Spielberg historical movie? Bring it on! Sally Field? Cool beans. For srs, hurry up and get released in the UK, already.

Saw it earlier today. It is definitely worth seeing.
It's not as much about the Civil war as I would have thought, though that is a constant theme and issues throughout the movie. One of the major focal points of the movie was the 13th Amendment, the debate about slavery/equality, and what Lincoln had to do in order to make sure the 13th Amendment would be added to the Constitution, since it was a focal point in how the Union would deal with the Confederacy.
Every actor was awesome, especially Daniel Day Lewis, Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones. A really good movie, be it for the casual movie go-er or history buffs alike.

Yeah, it really embraces the political drama rather than the war, which I liked. Anyone can make a War Movie (Spielberg probably better than some). And put DDL into anything and HE will be good, even if it's not. But this performance...it holds up to absolutely anything he's done in his career. I doubt it'll be another Best Actor award for him, but it should be.
