I heard it was a comedy-couldn't tell that by the previews-
I love horror, it's the gore I cannot stand, so hopefully someone will tell us what the scoop is on wether it's good or not-

It actually has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes...which, from what I've seen, is pretty rare. There are pages and pages and only 1 bad review that I saw.
Any reviews I've seen in magazines have been good...people talking about it on TV positively. I'm kinda shocked, really. I dunno what to expect because its gonna suck if I end up hating it now. heh

The previews didn't do anything for me at all, but the positive reviews do have me intrigued. If anyone can inject some life into the completely yawnable genre that is horror now, it's Raimi.

I do theater checks tonight, and I'll definitely be checking this theater for a bit longer 
To me, the previews made it look stupid.
But after reading a few of the reviews, it has piqued my curiosity. |

Great movie, doesn't feel PG-13 at all. The actors are good, the characters are fleshed out, and it's just fun all around. Nice added touches with the Mexican sorceress, the enchanted handkerchief, and that all-important button.
There's a lot of moral analyzing in this film. Not just because of what the heroine does to earn the curse, but what she does trying to break it. Identification with her comes and goes, and you're forced to reconcile what you think she deserves with the end of the film. Or not. But it's fun to think about.
I recommend seeing this in theaters because the sound is really loud for a great effect.

EVERYTHING wise just said. I just saw it...AMAZING. LOVED IT. It was SO much fun!
It really doesn't feel PG-13 at all. VERY loud but it HAS to be loud, I cannot imagine this having the same effect on DVD as it does in the theatre. A lot of the movie relies on it.
VERY Sam Raimi, he was ALL over it with his disgusting-ness and his zooming cameras and...of course, the Evil Dead car. I thought the pacing was perfect, the acting was great, the effects were great...everything was just right. I find it hard to point out any flaws.
I do recommend leaving the kids home though...there was someone in the theatre, very obnoxious guy who brought his kid, couldn't have been more than 8 or 9...this is definitely not something I'd let my kids see. Not a parent, myself, but...yeah, animal sacrifices and exorcisms just aren't kid friendly in my opinion. Kinda ticked me off.

Oh, also...as a few people have said, it IS a very campy, comedic movie...yet it still manages to be somewhat scary. I jumped SEVERAL times. Its not big on gore, but it can be rather disgusting...other fluids and such.
But, thats just Sam Raimi...if you've seen the Evil Dead movies, you'll know.

I JUST saw it like an hour ago.
It was a lot better than I expected it to be, it was pretty amazing. But I definitely wouldn't say PG-13, it felt more like R.
There were some nastiness, though not enough for my taste. It's still now on my list of favorite movies.

Good movie. The only thing I have to complain about is how Hollywood always wants to over-do the special effects, to the point where it ends up looking too fake.
Other than that, it was really good. Terrific, and creepy beyond belief ending.

That was enough to make me want to see it. Raimi = god.

Loved it I just went to see it ,and it was probally the best horror movie that has been made in awile. Especially comsidering the fact that it's pg-13. Seemed more like it was a little bit closer to R to me. |

I liked the Evil Dead movies, but this one just looks like another basic horror flick. I doubt I'll bother with it, at least not in the theater.

I didnt think it was scary at all. but the guy sat next to me jumped afew times... mainly because of the loud flashy bits.
I actually laughed quite a lot!!!

That's the entire point...you're supposed to laugh AND be scared...its a campy horror comedy. |

I think the old lady gumming that chick's chin was FOUL!!! i was like gagging...UGH! I did however jump a few times, and even screamed outloud once...but the gumming and fluids seriously made my stomach turn!!!

No... This movie sucked so badd.. I went in, with a good horror movie mood..and got that... This movie was mostly about an old lady, a hankerchief, a button off a shirt, and a Asian fag named stu... I didn't. Jump at all..I'm glad I went with friends kuz they kept it funny..just because of the stupid crap in the movie...like really¿ in the movie the chick was on her way to shuv somthing down this old ladys corps..and she sitting there screaming " ima get some" ..like really?? All I have to say is if you do go to see it..make sure you are intoxicated...
