im not good with these "what the movie's about" things, so i'll use info from movies.yahoo.com

"This science fiction adventure set in the 1930s starts as New York City reporter Polly Perkins starts to investigate why so many famous scientists are starting to be reported missing. Soon, she starts to get clues, as strange flying machines and giant robots threaten the city. Luckily, her old flame, aviator Captain Joseph Sullivan, AKA Sky Captain, is there to battle the bad guys with his friends, the Flying Legion, in his Warhawk P-40. Soon, Polly is flying away with Sky Captain to Nepal to find a crazy scientist, Dr. Totenkopf, who apparently wants to destroy the world... "

Why do you do that on every movie thread you go into?

I cant wait for this movie, it should be out in the summer here. admittedly, most of the reason for me being so excited about it is Angelina Jolie.

And that you i love anime, that was very helpful.

And q. Is it animation or real people?

10 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 2/15/04 - 5:03:49 PM EST (GMT-5)
its real people
10 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 2/15/04 - 5:05:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
It's live-action, molls. The special effects are CGI - but according to some reports online, they're apparently very good.

I can't wait! Glamorous action movies are so rare, and these have such talented actors. I'm going to go early, buy some chocolate and a great big diet Pepsi, and relish every moment. Yay!!

I've been waiting for this too..

Does it seem a bit A.I.-ish to anyone else? (No, not just because of Jude Law. )

It seems to me like the basis for the movie has been horribly overdone. But then I am an idiot.

I really wanna see this movie too!

Just from the trailers that I've seen, it seems that the story line might be pretty good, sci-fi wise. But it could really go over the top if not done right. Hopefully it won't. My hope is that with Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow it won't. They are trying to get that 30's, 40's WWII serial film movie feel to it with the costumes and the vintage aircraft, and even the title. However, just from the trailers, it looks to be almost "over processed" with CGI lighting and fading, etc. to get that feel. The special effects look great, though. And for some reason, the scene in the trailer with the huge airships reminds me of Pink Floyd's The Wall. "Did did did did you hear the falling bombs?"

All that considered though, I will still be in line to se it.

The entire movie (except for the actors) is CGI. I'll probably see it on Wednesday.

Seen this film last night.

Not bad but not wonderful. It held my interest in a few parts. The beginning was pretty slow. Actually, the whole thing was kind of slow.

I think it tried to hard to be an old movie.

I can honestly say though, that the trailers led me to believe certain things that were completely different in the movie, which was good.

Has anyone seen this? Is it any good?

I am going to see it just because Angeline Jolie is in it. And she has an eyepatch. Just that idea alone turns me on .

ascii~> Do you not read threads before you post on them?

Free~> Angelina does look quite nice in this film. She's got the whole girl power thing going on

I just saw this movie today. It was interesting. I didn't really enjoy it. The plot seemed to move along pretty slow. and it also seemed very long to me. The only person i even enjoyed in this film was Giovanni Ribisi.

And to all the Angelina Jolie fans....she is only in the movie for about 10 minutes.

Giovanni Ribisi!

"And to all the Angelina Jolie fans....she is only in the movie for about 10 minutes."

What? Hmn.. Why was she in about 80% of the trailer then? Oh well, I was more looking forward to Jude Law anyhow.. And the storyline of course..

Fantastic film. Very entertaining the entire time. Law and Paltrow have great chemistry. I'm shocked that Shamy thought it moved slowly. I thought the plot was always getting thicker, and there were plenty of good action scenes.

I agree that it was odd that Jolie was promoted so heavily, considering her role was so small. If anything, Ribisi's character was the third most important.

The look of the movie is incredible, and if it's not up for some cinematography, art direction, and visual effects Academy Awards, then there's something seriously wrong in the world.

This film might be eligible for the Animated Feature at the Oscars due to it being around 90% CGI, certainly make an interesting race.

I was suprised at how well this movie actually turned out to be, i'd say its just above average although as mention before it was pretty slow paced. I would give it a 7 out of 10. Its probubly better seen in the threathres where you are forced to sit through it.

Eh. It was ok. I thought Gwenneth's character was possibly the most annoying character ever to exist, though.
10 yrs ago - Wednesday 10/13/04 - 9:41:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
You must not remember Kate Capshaw in the 2nd Indiana Jones movie.

Indeed, trav.

There's also Maria Pitillo's infamous performance in 'Godzilla' (1998)...
