I don't know what my first one ever was
it might have been gremlins for me as well

I might have been about 7 when I watched it and I remember parts of it really freaking me out

the other movie I remember watching around that time was killer clowns from outer space which also freaked me out

The first that I remember is Poltergeist. I was about 9 or 10 years old and watched it like 5 or 6 times each day over a weekend with a couple friends. They were both girls and his behind me the whole time. 9/10 year old me thought I was some really cool playa or something.

My parents took us to see "House of Dark Shadows" when I was 9 years old. I had my eyes closed but it didn't help because of the spooky music and what they were saying, though I don't remember it well. Me and my siblings started trembling. So my parents had mercy on us and we left the theater.

I haven't seen it since then, but I'm curious to watch it now and see what I was so scared about.

Jaws. I was 2.
Nope.
Horror movies have never freaked me out whatsoever, but I love them.

Don't know if that really counts but I guess it was The Birds. 10 year old me wasn't really terrified but definitely impressed.

Nightmare on Elm Street it scared me and so I only watched a little of it.

The Incredible Shrinking Man. I couldn't watch through to the end.
Gosh, that was a while back. The theater isn't there any more. The elementary school my brother went to isn't there any more. Thirty years ago, I interviewed for a job in an office that occupied the same space as my bedroom had, thirty years before that...

Cronenberg's The Fly is the first one I remember (I was probably 7 or so). I have no idea why my parents let us watch that with them; they were usually strict about no R-rated movies. I think my dad rented it because he liked the old one and thought it wouldn't be too scary for us. It was. I loved it.

I've read the novel, but not seen the movie.

I've been watching R-Rated films since I was born, and horror movies right along.
So I'll go with the first one I watched alone: Puppetmaster.
I watched several Puppetmaster movies one night, by myself, as a young teen.
They were on the TV so of course I just watched them all as they were shown in a marathon.
I was so scared, terrified, but I couldn't just stop watching. I had to see what was going to happen!!!
Now I want to see them again.
