Eh. He was OK. I just think some of the other guys were hotter. But he did have a very beautiful voice.

I was so happy with this. No actor was the perfect singer (save for Barks, of course), but I was never taken out of the experience and plot by it, which is what you should aim for. And maybe I just don't have the ear for it, but I thought Crowe sounded fine. Not the strongest, no, but Stars
and the Suicide
went well, to me. But I was definitely glad Amanda Seyfried didn't sing often. Visually, she was perfect as Cosette, but not vocally.

And I definitely wanted to join in at the end. Had one of those chills of pure joy go through my body after it.

Also, I could swear I heard half the theater silently singing along to "I Dreamed A Dream" because of the amount of mouths moving and lips parting.

I just came in here to post about how surprisingly amazing Anne Hathaway was.

Had never seen any production of Les Mis before today.

I'll wait to see this at home since I so want to punch everyone who's singing and I don't want to lose my theatre privileges.

I actually share those sentiments.
I pay to watch the movie.
I don't want to hear a bunch of people singing overtop of the movie.

You don't do it at an actual stage show (unless invited) so don't do it in an effin' movie theatre.

So I won't be watching this until it's on video.

There's hope yet slinky. No one sang in my theater

I don't believe you. Not for one second.

It was literally only the very end where people were singing in mine. Nobody was joining in the big solo numbers or anything.

Also, I am the goddamn Shush Nazi in most movies, AND I'd been waiting all year for this one, AND it still didn't bother me. tbh, it's worth seeing on the big screen for the visuals alone.

Oh, and re: Marius, super-hot. And great pipes on top of it. If you want to see more of him, he was also in My Week With Marilyn, which was (imo) under-appreciated.

ALSO
2014 Broadway Revival of the show. I may die of excitement before then.

I just finished watching this. For me, who has never read/seen a production before, it was great. Of course Crowe was wooden, poor guy shouldn't have been singing. I cried so many times; movies DON'T do that to me but musicals, every time, every time man.

I found Marius to be GORGEOUS. That man. I've looked him up but I can't for the life of me figure out where else I've seen him.

Eponine stole my heart.

Jackman rocked it. Really. I was so happy with that choice.

Oh and NO ONE even breathed a word in my theatre. Sniffles, sure, but no singing. It was deathly quiet in that intense everybody is loving the movie kind of way.

Even after looking at that (for the second time) I still have no idea where I first saw him because I haven't seen anything he's been in before.

I'm not sure what to think about it.

The trailer really stirred me up but I think I got far more excited over that than the movie itself. I think it was to do with the pace of it.

It was still pretty spectacular! The little kid who played Gavroche stole the show for me! He was fab! So was Hathaway and Barks. Jackman had some amazing moments but wasn't consistent for me. And of course Crowe was completely awful as a singer! I didn't feel the power that should have come from that character.

I love the fact that all the vocals were recorded on set. It wouldn't have been nearly as good otherwise.

I feel kinda bad for him.

I enjoyed it. The slow-pace bothered me, but it really was a gorgeous film.

I usually can't stand Anne Hathaway but I must say she was brilliant in this... it really does pain me to say that.

My friends didn't find the actor who played Marius attractive at all but I think he's so f*cking good looking. Oh man.

The sound when Javert killed himself... Jesus.

And thanks be to God no one started singing at the end in my theatre... I would have cringed so hard.
