It was a nice little Woody Allen ensemble cast as usual. I definitely enjoyed the flashbacks way more than the 2010 stuff. Rachel McAdams isn't exactly Meryl Streep anyway, but she seemed so out of place in this. Wilson on the other hand really held his own.
My favourite portrayals were definitely Hemingway, Zelda Fitzgerald, and Dali. All were pretty much exactly how I've imagined them in my head.
I didn't care as much for the whole "Artist is writing a story while acting out a movie of that story" bit. It felt a bit too much like Adaptation. Been there, done that.
I enjoyed it, and I wanted to love it, but I only liked it.
The whole breakup was too easy, the main character didn't have enough conflict in wanting the other woman. Yeah I guess that's what was lacking for me - it was too easy.

I felt the same way about Adaptation, because i saw Altman's "the player" before.
