It just doesn't seem Bond enough. It just lacks the quality that when you hear it you immediately know it's a Bond film.

Yeah the title is definitely lacking...makes me think of Icarus from Die Another Day, actually...although the title actually something to do with unreciprocated love.
Would have thought something like Blood Equilebrium would have been better but still wanna see it.

Funny but in my non-native speaker's ear it sounds fine. I didn't like the sound of 'The Living Daylights' and thought 'Goldeneye' was kind of a lame reference to 'Goldfinger'.

I guess I don't like it because it doesn't make sense.
Quantum:
–noun
1. quantity or amount: the least quantum of evidence.
2. a particular amount.
3. a share or portion.
4. a large quantity; bulk.
5. Physics.
a. the smallest quantity of radiant energy, equal to Planck's constant times the frequency of the associated radiation.
b. the fundamental unit of a quantized physical magnitude, as angular momentum.
Solace:
alleviation or comfort
So it means amount of comfort? Why use such a pretentious word as quantum? It's just a very awkward phrase.

The name comes from one of Fleming's books, it wasn't made up for the movie.
I see no problem with it. All of the 007 movies have weird or pretentious titles.

Yeah, but none grate like this one.
Just because Fleming came up with it doesn't make it any better.

I found it disappointing. It was good but not as good as I expected it to be.

It didn't really live up to Casino Royale's standards.
I thought it lost a lot of the humour and cheesy puns. But there were some good action scenes

I really loved it. Not as much as Casino Royale though, I felt more for the charactors there. I was sad when Vesper died in Casino Royale, but didn't feel so much for Miss Fields or Mathis in this one.
Still, it was great. I liked the grittiness of it and it was just plain awesome. I wish he'd killed the guy in Russia at the end though
And one other thing... Where were the Bond gadgets?! Those cool screens they had hardly made up for them!

I noticed that the trakemark rifle seen in just about every peview poster, including the one at the top of this page, was never actually used!
QOS was a really fun watch, I reckon. What there lacked in the good story that Casino Royale had, this revenge mission was absolutely packed full of action and gritty violence. That's what Bond is all about for me.
Definately watching again.

Can't wait to see the movie tonight! If it's anything like the Casino Royal, it's going to be great.

I thought many of the action scenes suffered from poor editing... because there were so many really short disconnected shots, you lost track of who was doing what where; rather than having a narrative of the action, it was just like "action is happening." But the story was pretty good.

I thought that about the action too; it seems to be a common thing today. It really irritates me, it's such a lazy way to make a film.
I thought this was serviceable but unremarkable. I loved the Bond girl though, and the French guy.

i enjoyed this movie, not as good as Casino Royale but its a good enough wrap up, and its a bridge to whatever is next.
I really like the more...realistic? Bastardly bond. THough dropping the guy off the roof was a little unexpected and the can or motor oil was just cold. Still good though

on the title
heres my thoughts
1) before seeing it I thought it was a very loose play on "time heals all wounds"
and its supposed to be a revenge flick. So it makes sense to me, like how revenge can bring a bit of relief but it doesnt bring back what you lost
2) wiki says "The title was chosen from a 1960 short story in Ian Fleming's For Your Eyes Only, though the film does not contain any elements of the original story."
3) the organizations name is Quantum, so thats part

He didnt kill the guy kind of proves he is an agent now, and not out for revenge or rogue anymore and that he is fully committed. these two films were supposed to be "how bond came to be" at least thats how I understand it. In casino hes not at all like the bond we know, but he keeps getting closer
I think part of this relaunch was to make it a bit more real and gritty and to get away from the rediculous gadgets and stuff like that.

I enjoyed it, though I have to agree that the action was a bit choppy (particularly in the opera scene I thought). Not as good as Casino Royale, but still an interesting movie to watch.

I know, not killing the guy showed he'd 'matured' and all.
But I still wanted him dead. I liked Vesper!
