From what I'm hearing, this is going to be a fun film... Lots of buzz and I love singing and dancing. I bet it will be this year's Chicago!

I'm been anti- from the start, and realized I have nothing against the movie, just Beyonce. There's no way in hell I could sit through two hours of that wooden product of commerce straining her way through dialogue. And I don't care how awesome her dress is, she's horrible. You always hear, oh she works so hard, she deserves our respect. You know who else works hard? The Mexican guy who tarred my neighbor's roof. Javier isn't in movies though.

Anyway, this is just my way of saying the movie looks great, with one notable exception.

^^ She's the reason I hate it.

I finally saw it on Friday...Jennifer Hudson is the TRUTH...the audience actually applauded after "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going." If she doesn't win a Golden Globe/Oscar something is seriously wrong...

I'm really sorry but I just don't like this type of "singing." It sounds like screeching to me. *shrugs*

Hudson totally blew me away, and Eddie Murphy had good energy throughout. Some magnificent song pieces, but overall, the movie fell a bit short for me. It felt a lot like "Walk the Line" did last year for me--when they weren't playing powerful music, the story drug. This was especially apparent in the second act. A very enjoyable film, but now that I've seen it, I don't feel the Best Picture snub is all that shocking.

Sooo much hype for this film, and I'm not one bit interested in watching it really.

Like trav said, 'Dreamgirls' was nothing new or special, but it contained great performances and songs.

It was also a very dazzling-looking film, full of vivid colours and great fashions.

I REFUSE to every see this movie! I have made a personally promise to never, ever view another movie with Beyonce Knowles in it. I cant place, but there is something about that woman that I just cant stand.

I saw this a week or so before it came out.

I enjoyed the first half. It was a good film. The acting was good, the songs and sets were good, etc.

The second half was going too far. The songs got worse and the sets to the songs got worse as they increased in fame. If they just stopped at the half way point, it would have been a good movie. It is far too long though. I was so bored by the end. I remember one member of the audience clapping at the end. NO ONE joined in.

It was totally self indulgent in its own songs. They thought way too highly of their songs and there were way too many. There was a point when Hudson broke into song and it was a horrible feeling of impending boredom. I hope I never have to feel that again. Thankfully she only sang one sentance in that instance. What a relief.

The second half was just boring. From when Hudson leaves, it is just a linear look at them rising to new heights. Nothing happens during that rise. And then they've gotta make a baddie at the end, and it just felt forced. It felt more like it was trying to be a documentary... and when everyone
turned on Kurtis
it felt so forced and utterly predictable.

What I can't get my head round is how the music and sets got WORSE. !?!?!?!?!?

!?!?!?!?!?

Apart from Beyonce, the acting was top notch. As The Departed has shown us, great acting does not necessitate a satisfying film. I was so relieved when it was all over.

The first half was thoroughly enjoyable though.

I didn't think I would like this movie very much... and I was right. Like others in here have said, I just can't stand Beyonce. There's just something about her that makes me grind my teeth and want to throw a shoe at the screen. I don't really like Eddie Murphy much either, truth be told, but it was mostly Beyonce that bothered me. That being said, Jennifer Hudson was wonderful and was quite deserving of the Oscar.

Well I decided to watch this, and it wasn't bad, actually. Jennifer Hudson annoyed me at first, but by the end, she had won me over. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, that's for sure!

Jinnifer Hudson is a really good actor...they should put her in other movies as well

So I funally broke down and watched this on cable. I actually really wbjoyed it. Jennifer Hudson is the SH*T! She deserved 100% of that oscar.

And overall the movie wasn't bad either. Beyonce actually didn't do half-bad, and it kept me enthralled.

I had to watch it dubbed in Spanish because I was watching it with my mom so it seriously diminished my enjoyment but it was really good.

Very, very good.

I didn't know this was a musical, that was a nice surprise.

12 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Saturday 12/29/07 - 9:18:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
I just finished watching it now, actually.

It was wonderful
I didn't like Deena, though.
