I'd like to understand more.. 'how' are they doing it??? What does the DNA have to do with the gem??

*might look it up later*

IT'S FAKE

They don't take DNA and make it into a diamond. They extract the carbon atoms out of hair to make a diamond.
A diamond is made out of carbon atoms only, rearranged in a different way than graphite for example.

So you will not be allowed "to walk around with literally a piece of the famous composer on their hands".....

You will walk around with rearranged carbon atoms out of somebody's hair..........

I was thinkin like, melt them down and make a diamond out of the ashes or something like that. That would be cool, but not a real diamond i guess heh.

i agree harijan but some people would rather have a can of ashes on a shelf in ther house that is the remains of ther cremated grandmother so i can see that type of person going in for something like that.

Not attracted....

This is pretty old, 'diamonds' made from ashes have been around for a couple of years. I'd prefer the ring made of ZZTop's guitar strings, but that's just me.

Not that nuts, people keep bodies in urns, why not on their finger? I actually don't like either, I'm just saying its not that far a stretch.

I think its kind of a nice idea...better than a vase full of greasy ashes sitting on the fireplave mantle...at least it can be blwon away

Sounded weird at first, but I've only been married for a year and this is interesting. I don't think the idea of wearing something like this on my wedding ring finger after 50 years of marriage to the love of your life is weird. I mean the person that you thought of every day and loved like no one else is now gone...tell a 80 year old man/woman that keeping that person in their memory like this is a bad idea. Imagine having that person close to you that meant the entire world to you through your entire life. Even wearing it to honor their life is a good idea I think. Some of us love our partners that much. Feel bad for those that never will love or be loved that strongly. :(

I'm doing this when I die. I decided that during my mineralogy class. Diamonds are awesome because they're so structurally sound. But *this* is awesome because, unlike a real diamond, this will have no impurities (and the only way to tell between this and a real diamond is through x-ray diffraction or something similar to see fractures and inclusions on a microscopic level, plus some structural impurities).

But then again, I've always thought this was a cool thing. I think it's creepier to have a jar of ashes. At least this way you get to be shiny.

Also thought it'd be a cool idea for a pair of wedding rings. Expensive, yes, but kinda cool.
