It is a curious time, the moment before you sell your soul. You tell yourself what you are doing is wrong. You know that while the righteous path is fraught with failure, the path you are taking has no chance of success, and yet you continue on your path. You see those last glimmers of hope, fading embers of your last chance at victory; slowly you watch them die out, leaving naught but a ashy trail leading to your submission. There is sadness, their is joy, yet on the path to submission, emotions are rare and insignificant. All you feel is a consuming sense of bitterness and futility. It would be almost truthful to say that you feel nothing at all. Everything becomes dust around you, and as you watch the glories and trials of a life not lived recede into the horizon, you turn back and look into the abyss until you finally become incomplete.
