"In 2002, a Chicago comedy duo, Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov, landed their big break: a chance to perform at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colo. When Louis C.K. invited them to hang out in his hotel room for a nightcap after their late-night show, they did not think twice. The bars were closed and they wanted to celebrate. He was a comedian they admired. The women would be together. His intentions seemed collegial.

As soon as they sat down in his room, still wrapped in their winter jackets and hats, Louis C.K. asked if he could take out his..........."

Hopefully this means he never hosts SNL again.

Probably a given.

I just saw that the distribution company for his new movie is not going to put it out.

This stuff has been rumored for years. I'm glad it's finally getting some traction, and people are believing the women.

I’m glad Hollywood is finally being exposed for the huge piece of sh*t it is.

If there is a Tom Hanks or Keanu Reeves story coming I am going to be bummed.

Eh. He really only gets very limited credit for this, though. He didn't admit and own up to it when it was reported for years in smaller and less august publications than the NYT. He's only doing so now because he really can't get away from it. It's a PR move.

Talk about setting the bar low.

Considering this was already a story on multiple occasions, including as recent as last month, yeah I'm rolling my eyes at the whole apology.

"I'm sorry I got caught loudly enough to have to finally make a statement make a statement instead of brushing it off like I did literally a few weeks ago. Also...I'm gay?"

Exactly.

Is jacking off in front of women frowned upon?
Damn

It is weird how specific the trend is with hollywood, even in the Mariah Carey story.

The power trip gained from beating it while locking eyes with someone not interested is clearly a common fetish.

What were you expecting, sackcloth and ashes?

I'm not a fan of his actions, or for that matter, much of a fan of his comedy, but I will give him credit for not trying to blame drink, sexual confusion or any of the other crap people have used to try and excuse inappropriate behaviour.

And let's be clear here. I don't think Louis has broken any laws. Was his behaviour an abuse of the status these women seen him as having? Absolutely. Not a crime though.

Let's save the real outrage for the rapists and abusers of children.

Well, not calling these things "just rumors" for YEARS (and up until as recently as a few weeks ago) would've been a good start.
The accusers were anonymous at that point, so he felt he could get away with it. Now that several have spoken on the record, he can't anymore. Hence the statement.

And can we not with the relative privation garbage, please?

He has a fetish. He asked women who he is around to play out his fetish. They said yes.

Women have said no and left.

The women that have said no have had nothing happened to hurt their career.

Seems like he's got a fetish, he's asked for and gotten consent every time. If he doesn't he isn't vindictive in any way.

Sounds like to me he has done absolutely nothing wrong.

This to me is a witch-hunt and a case of cry bullying.

And now this guy has had his career shredded just for some sensationalism
9 days ago - Saturday 11/11/17 - 4:41:17 AM EST (GMT-5)
His statement is so apologist. But he doesn't have a choice because if he doesn't apologise the media is going to tear his career up even more
9 days ago - Saturday 11/11/17 - 4:45:04 AM EST (GMT-5)
And look there is an if whether he knew that the women were doing this thing under duress or not. But that's too big an if to hang a whole career on the line.

By the logic it's going now no powerful person can do anything sexual with anyone
9 days ago - Saturday 11/11/17 - 4:51:03 AM EST (GMT-5)
if you have leverage over someone, putting them in a situation where they may be afraid to say ‘no’ is an abuse of power

not to mention calling these accusations mere rumors until he was backed into a corner

this is a gross, skeevy, creepy thing to do
9 days ago - Saturday 11/11/17 - 4:58:13 AM EST (GMT-5)
I'm of both minds here. Yes this was an incredibly gross thing to do and an incredible abuse of his power as basically the godfather of actual comedy, but also he didn't force anybody to watch him jerk it

I know it ain't that simple and even if they felt like they could've walked out they also might have been saying goodbye to their careers as far as they knew even if that wasn't the case. I realize that power is just the problem with this and many other cases and even if louis ck left that door open for just this reason it wouldnt feel that way to these women just because of who he is

I just really like louis ck goddamn it
