Rare Replay.

I still love Jet Force Gemini. Getting use to the controls took a bit though.

I almost "beat" RC Pro-Am on my first play through.

Today I played through Jotun in one sitting. I hung out with the lead at PAX East, and his pitch/passion for the game made it a day one buy for me. It's cheap, $14 on steam, but it's short. That said, it's f*cking stunning. It's like playing a Norse-themed Don Bluth Film, and gave me some Shadow of Colossus vibes. Some calm-ish puzzles, and then tense and visually loud boss fights. Up there with Transistor for favorite one-sitting games in the last two years. Oh and like Transistor, the music is gold.

Forza 6 is legit.

AC: Black Flag was cool; definitely reinvigorated my interest in exploring and collectible hunting. As a game in it's own right, it *might* be better than 2, but I didn't prefer it.The pirating/exploration aspect carried the main plot and overused traditional AC mechanics (way too much following people from a distance in the story missions). It also stood out to me when I would accidentally do things that were prominent in previous games but now aren't really used (e.g. sitting on a bench). It felt like they just couldn't be bothered to take them out.

If I had played BF before 2, I might think differently, but I was invested in the plot and not bored of the gameplay when I played that.

Pokémon Silver for the 10000th time.

It's my favourite one.

It only took me 8 hours to beat Crysis, and Nocturne was taking long, so I took a break. Now I'm playing Killer is Dead, and doing my second play through of SMT IV.

I played the Battlefront beta a bit. Looks and sounds great, definitely appropriately Star Wars-y. Gameplay wise, I thought it was just okay. Felt like a slightly stripped down version of Battlefield 4 with a Star Wars skin.

I think I'd almost rather have ammo than the cool down system they've implemented

it feels like I'm practically maxing it out just to kill someone
and I'm not even a bad shot

it also has the problem of some other battlefield games where it's easy to spawn camp
I was playing on hoth and the imperials had gotten walkers on both sides of where it kept spawning me and I couldn't escape

I got the impression (from the lack of an ammo stock and the instant respawn) that they just don't really expect you to last too long. Run out guns blazing, die, respawn and repeat. I felt like there was more of an onus on staying alive in Battlefield.

I was kind of meh on the skill selection too. It was a bit odd to start with literally nothing but your blaster. I like the pick 10 system that some Call of Duty games did as a way to customise, but the options here felt really limited in comparison (I don't know if there will be more to choose from in the final game).

And yeah, the spawns can suck. I'd like the option to spawn on more than just one 'squad mate' too. Mine seemed to spend as much time dying as I did.

I just got the final Badge in Jhoto and am ready to set sail (or surf) for Kanto. It's been so long since I last played silver so there is a lot this time around that I struggled to remember. I think I went back to the radio tower half a dozen times because I forgot when you're supposed to do it.

I've been playing Dominodrop on my tablet for a week. Pretty addictive. Similar to Tetris, but you can't rotate the domino. Each equal number make the domino half disappear. Well designed and very affordable.

I was in the mood for a zombie game, so I replayed Resident Evil 6. For the first two scenarios (albeit after a slow start), I found myself thinking it wasn't as boring as I remembered, but I was reminded why I felt that way by the end... It was a mistake to drag it out to double the length of 4 and 5 - if they had just kept the strong ideas, it might have been received better. Also, way too much reliance on QTE/set pieces (oh, that boss isn't dead yet either, again) and not enough of actually just shooting regular enemies in decent environments. I had forgotten pretty much every level in the game.

I got Revelations in the Capcom Humble Bundle, so I'll probably give that a go next.

I guess I will see how long it will take to download this 9GB day one patch for Halo later, surely a lot of people will be trying to get it at the same time. Hopefully it won't be that bad.
Also, my elite controller should be in on Thursday.

Overwatch beta started yesterday. Sneaking in a few matches when I can. Moderating the subreddit for it right now is basically full-time work. An unending sea of very angry people because they didn't get invited asap.

Where's my f*cking invite?

I downloaded Velvet Sundown yesterday. It's so weird.

It's kinda fun but only in small doses. I think it will get boring after a while.

Well, Microsoft finally built a better controller than Sony...too bad it's $90 more.

I messed with it a bit. It is a fantastic creation, but I don't use a controller enough to justify it.
