Freshman year, he was smart. He got pretty decent grades, seemed to understand computers pretty well... then something happened after that. He seemed to just give up, and become brain-dead. He was always half-asleep in class sophomore year, and would insist on going to school when he was sick. When the schedule changed, he didn't. He'd walk really late into one class because he had a different schedule in his mind. In the last two years, he's hardly gone to school at all. I don't think he graduated. he's 40 credits behind. I'm not sure what he plans to do, but he seems to have no idea right now. I've sort of given up trying to help him, since he's probably hopeless at this point. but he wants to be computer programmer still somehow. i don't know if he can be one.

Completely. His home life is drated up. That is a lot of it.

Well he still messages me on AIM these days, so I still worry about him.

Maybe you should talk to a councilor and ask them to talk to him, because you're concerned.

I have a friend who took an extra year to graduate from High School. He didn't seem to mind because it just gave him an extra year to party. Well now all he does is party. He claims he is trying to get a job, and that he is going to go to college in the fall, but I know better. He was living with me for awhile and I was taking him jobhunting in my car. When I cleaned my car out, I found EVERY SINGLE application he had ever gotten stuffed under my seat. I was so pissed. He'd lied to me as well as wasted my time. I love him dearly, but I see him doing absolutely nothing with his life. The sad part is, he had so much potencial. *gets sad thinking about it*

I could try. I'll be going to school tomorrow to send my transcript off to St. Mary's. :) But I think counselors have talked to him before. 5th year could work. he only needs half a year. or so he thinks.
