Today, a coworker taught me what a malaphorism is. It's pushing together two sayings, sometimes creating a an absurd, abstract significance.

Honorable mentions:
-"we'll burn that bridge when we come to it"
-"give a man to fish, shame on you. teach a man to fish, shame on me"
-"don't count all your chickens in one basket"

second place: "it's not "rocket surgery"

and my favorite so far: "does the Pope sh*t in the woods?"

we talked a bit about koans and groucho marx-isms after that.

These days, especially, focused absurdity flows more logically and is more gratifying than conversation on serious topics.

Some other things that have happened..
Played D&D for the first time with partner and his buds
Pierced my ears, finally

I'm having pear cider and it tastes like some sort of wine.

Flying saucers are just an optical conclusion.

I didn't have my ears pierced until I was 10. I tried with a needle so my mom finally took me to get them done.

In the late 90s guys wore small hoop earrings or maybe studs. I also had one in my cartilage at the top, but it never stopped being sore so I ended up taking it out.

Yeah, she said I didn't need them pierced so young. I could just use clip-ons.

I thought boys with ear rings looked very cute and kinda rebellious.

There's a character in The Sopranos, Carmine Lupertazzi, that says the funniest malapropisms all the time.

We call them Perronism, after an infamous NHL coach who made them all the time.

Unfortunately, the only one that translates is not even a defacto malaphorism: "It's really hard to make predictions, especially about the future."

Oh dear lord. I was 17. Bitch froze my lobe, used a sewing needle, and pushed it through. Then came the god damned biggest effing stud, and I ended up nearly dying in pain. I still have the scar in my lobe. I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't be too hard to re-open and or push an earring through there again.

And...I'd probably throw up. Again.
