Has anyone ever had a tile floor, or more specifically the grout, sealed? I love the tile flooring we put in years ago, but I made the mistake of letting Lowe's pick out my grout color and it's light and it's getting a little dingy in high traffic areas.

I wonder how much it would help if I had it sealed. Any thoughts?

I'll do it mahself!

My parents had theirs sealed when they redid their bathrooms, for this very reason. They chose a light sand-colored tile, and light grout to go with it, so it would have been a nightmare otherwise. Now, the water just beads up rather than sinking into the grout (along with whatever dirt or particles are in the water).
I really don't know what the advantage of NOT doing it would be. Just a cost concern?

Do you even know what it entails?

And it's worked out well, eh?

Well, yeah, I don't want to do it if it's not worth it (doesn't really work).

OH LAWD

I was kind of imagining that we would get the flooring and grout cleaned professionally and then sealed.

Well I don't have a good comparison of what the floors would have looked like if they hadn't been sealed, of course. But as far as cleaning the ones they have now, it's so easy. If I were redoing floors, there is no question that I would do it. My dad actually went back and did the kitchen floor afterward because they liked it so much.

I think I would pay for the professional cleaning, just so you can start with the absolute best blank slate possible. But cuck is right that the actual sealing isn't hard to do yourself.

But if you wanna redo it, look into heated tile flooring.

It's the absolute sh*t.

You will lie on your floor like a lizard.

You will be the lizard queen.

Where is slinky?

I feel like she'd know about this.

Thank you!

However, the "lizard queen" title is appealing.

F*ck no, slinky spends too much money. She'll want to glaze the grout with gold or something.

Hahahahaha, slinky, I'm so sorry.

Bigger tiles mean less grout, but smaller tiles mean the grout is less noticeable.

Middle size tiles are yucky.

You can easily clean it yourself, then get it treated.
