So it's been a week since I started weaning myself off of cigarettes using the timer on my phone. I started with an hour after I finished smoking and now I'm up to an hour and a half and I haven't cheated once. I only smoked 11 yesterday.

I was talking to my friend and she challenged me to get it down to 5 before I quit next Tuesday. I think this is a great idea because adding 5 minutes has been pretty easy and quitting for good isn't easy. Also I need to get more practice telling myself no and I'll feel like I have more to lose when I'm tempted to cheat when I quit.

So starting tomorrow I'm going to add 15 minutes each day.

And good job! I keep telling myself to quit but then I buy more cigarettes.

Then set your timer for 20 minutes and add 1 minute a day. You don't have to be as aggressive as I am if you want to try the timer method. Find what works for you.

Is there an app to do that?
Or do I have to set all kinds of alarms on my phone?
Not sure how it works...

This timer method is brilliant, snarf. I'm gonna keep it in mind for other goals that I want to set it in the future.

Congrats and keep going!!

I couldn't find an app so I just use the countdown timer that came stock on my phone

I'm afraid I would be staring at the timer the whole time, waiting and sweating and anticipating that next cigarette.

I do check mine frequently. It showed me how addicted I really am

Goodnight.

I only smoked 9 yesterday. I could have had one more before I went to bed but I decided I was tired enough to go to sleep and didn't need the stimulation. I think this is the first time in 30 years I've smoked less than half a pack in a day, not counting the times I tried to quit.

The timer is up to 2 hours today. I'll have one more before bed for a total of 8 today. I was tempted to cheat many times today but I resisted.

Tomorrow the timer will be set at 2:15. I believe it will be hard but I'll make it.

I'll find out for sure next Tuesday when I quit. I don't expect it to be easy but I'm hoping this experiment will make it easier

I hope it works for you!!

Had trouble falling asleep last night so I ended up smoking 9 yesterday. Not bad for smoking 25 a week earlier.

I keep getting tempted to have one day before I quit where I say f*ck it and smoke as much as I want.

But the whole purpose of weaning myself is to make it easier when I do quit so I'm posting this in the hope I get the thought out of my head.

Say it, realize it’s a horrible idea and move on!

You are doing good! Keep up the positive end result.
