I'm not sure what I want out of today, yet. You know those days where you're uninspired and vaguely malcontent, but can't be bothered doing anything about it? Malaise. That's the word. Funny story. I went to my father's on Monday for his homemade lasagna. My brother came too, and mentioned that he'd told our mother he was going to Dad's for lasagna, and that he made awesome lasagna and was sending him home with leftovers. Her response? "Oooh, are you going to share?" He paused for a second, and said, "Uh... no?"
"Why not? I like lasagna!" The lady is genuinely retarded. The man she made up horrible disgusting lies about for the last two decades is making lasagna for his children which she's kept isolated from him for that whole two decades... and all she hears is, "FREE LASAGNA COME AND GET IT". F*cking worthless idiot. It makes me sick.

It's f*cking delicious lasagna.
And if I had my druthers, it'd be her Last Meal.

That is a really irritating story.
Like one of those stories that seems like such a small thing, but it's like a million pin pricks to your nerves.
I don't know if that made sense, but it totally did in my head.
I effin' love lasgana.
I was trying to think just now of what to make for dinner tonight. Perhaps that will be it!

So not related to the actual thread story, but I can't stop singing "Can't Get You Outta My Head" by Kylie Minogue now!

YES. Exactly.
Cmy, oh absolutely I am... and apparently, she's still completely bewildered as to why I'm not speaking to her.
Doli, the one that won't get out of mine is that stupid one, "I'm addicted and I just can't get enough... I just can't get enough. I just can't get enough." ON AND ON AND ON. It's been stuck in my head for 36 hours now.

I AM. I seriously haven't stopped whistling it, humming it, drilling it in my head this whole time. GOING INSANE.
Ugh, mine too, hamlet... I've never made a successful lasagna, and I am a fairly decent cook.

PS, this is what I did today. It's for a retiring Marine Colonel.
Tomorrow, I get to do a Redneck Hot Tub Party theme. And also a purple wedding, which will be gorgeous.

I've only ever tried once, and I didn't bother following a recipe - that was probably my mistake

I tried to do it without cooking the noodles first, as suggested in some magazine or something, and didn't use a recipe either.
The result was mostly edible... but not even SLIGHTLY lasagna.

Opposite issue with mine (obv. )
Did you let it set for a while before serving? It can be more like cheese and tomato soup if you don't, even when you make it perfectly!

My gram makes amazing lasagna, and she soaks the noodles in warm tap, changing the water twice. It's better than undercooking or accidently overlooking.

I think you'd only need a recipe for the bechamel. I make a good bolognese sauce already, so I'd just use that.
But moussaka kicks the crap out of lasagna, imo.

I like moussaka, but I prefer it with beef rather than lamb
Beschamel is the easy part for me - I just need to get the bolognese sauce I make to be less liquidy!

He makes a great thick meat sauce with ground beef and sausage, and uses that.
It's the layers I have to master. And it's just so... labor intensive and messy, that I don't try at whim, you know? You need like a whole day of JUST lasagnaing.
