Friday, June 26th, 2009. It was sunny when I left at 2:30 to pick up Jolene, Rico's wife, and her kids, Junior, Cory, Rico, and Rey. Rico asked me to do this because he was doing a tattoo and had to run some errands right afterwards. He asked that I take his van because mine is cluttered and not in any shape for kids to be riding around in. This was fair, I thought, so I took the van. On the way there, I noticed that the oil light, service engine light, and battery light were all on. I made a mental note, and continued on.

I picked them up and brought them back to the shop. My friend, Cody was going to meet me there when Rico left and we were gonna chill, play some darts, discuss further plans for the evening. He called, and not wanting Jolene to tell Rico Cody was coming by (for some reason he didn't like it when Cody came around), I played it off like it was her husband calling to see if I was on my way.

When I got to the shop, Rico said no "thanks." He simply grabbed his keys and left the shop. That's something I had considered finding another job for. His ungrateful attitude. I had called him on that before, but he always made it seem like he did more for me than I did for him. He was so stuck on that notion, that I let him keep it. After a while, I began to figure "well, I see what I do, and so does everyone else who comes into the shop."

Anyway, five minutes after leaving to run this errand, he calls me, pissed off as hell. I thought Jolene informed him that he called me and wasn't very happy about it, wondering what he could be doing. I was prepared to explain myself, take the heat for whatever was wrong, and continue on with the day; indeed with my apprenticeship. However, this wasn't about that. He wanted to know what I did to his van. "Be honest, Sammy. What did you do to my van?" I kept asserting that I didn't do anything to his van. He persisted until he was fed up with being wrong- - a grand total of one minute and fifteen seconds- - and hung up the phone.

Two hours later he calls me and says "what the drat did you do to my van, Sam?" I continued to assert that I did nothing to his stupid van. I was very calm about it, refraining from swearing or yelling, but he just kept getting more pissed off. Finally he said "just leave your shop key there. I better not see your ass there when I get back." That was the last straw. I would not be blamed for his inaction. I grabbed everything that I owned in that shop, packed it in my van, left my key, and ditched that place.
not long after that, he called me again. I ignored it, not wanting to talk to him. He left a threatening voicemail on my phone: "you know what, you motherdrater? Wait till I find you. Wait till I find you, you drating punk!" which I went to the police with. They've got that on file now, so if he tries anything else he is going to suffer.

He's been making stuff up about me, too. Since I left, I've heard some of the horrible things I've said and done. Rico is a pathological liar who cannot run a business without someone doing all the work for him. Before I came along, another apprentice was doing it. Before her, it was his poor wife. He is a parasite, feeding off the energy and emotions of others, then wondering why they feel so tired and down all the time.

believe me, I've considered it.
If circumstances were a little bit different, there would be no problem with taking his business down, but I promised his wife that I wouldn't do anything to hurt the shop. She's a sweet lady, so I'll keep my word.
