So, now that I'm inching up on 27, I'm starting to feel a definite difference in age between myself and my younger friends.

Some, for instance, don't recall when Chuck E. Cheese was Showbiz Pizza (those were the days).

Others cannot recall Eureka's Castle, or the Elephant Show!

I pity those of my friends who did not grow up with Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake, or My Little Ponies. And though all three have been "brought back" as retro awesome toys and such, it makes me angry when people don't understand what is behind it. I saw a girl dressed as Rainbow Brite this year for Halloween at the Magic Kingdom. I was working at the time, and asked her in jest, "Rainbow Brite, Where are your sprites!?" She looked at me confused and said, "Sprites?" Her right to the costume ought to be revoked I say!

Even though I grew up with the internet, new technology also makes me feel old. Every time I try to type on an iphone I completely mess it up. I'm not too good with a wii either, but I'm working on it steadily. Perhaps it's because I don't own either of these, but nonetheless, others who don't own them are perfectly capable of using them flawlessly. So maybe it's just me.

Music is another area that makes me feel hella old. I listen to an eclectic array, but I have friends who will ask if I like song X on the radio right now. And I can't respond.

I'm out of touch in my old age. What are some of the things that make you feel old? And if you, like me, are a child of the 80's, do you feel like we won for growing up in such an awesome time?

No way. 90's kids win.

I haven't felt old yet, but eventually I'm sure I will. Especially since I have some nieces who are growing up in the 2000's.

Definitely not. My brother was a child of 91, and me of 82. So I can say with certainty, having seen the childhood shows, toys, games, etc. of his generation and of my own, that we pwned childhood.

For rizzle.

Sidenote: What the hell was the deal with Pokemon?

He was obsessed and I suffered through the movies and shows with him.

The game on N64 was way fun though. I will say that.

But seriously? Pokemon was kind of insane.

Pokemon was awesome!

I remember going to see Pokemon: The Movie. We were all like "OMFG MEWTWO!!!1!1!" Best movie ever. I actually cried when my sister wouldn't buy the movie for me. She was a lame 80's kid as well.

Gasp! You think Pokemon was insane... MY sister thinks its insane, too! 80's kids are evil.

Hahaha. Are you my brother?

Actually I took my brother to see the Pokemon movie(s). Not sure which, but definitely the one with Mew Two.

I bet him when he was 10 that he would not like Pokemon when he was 18. He insisted he would still be a card collector and the whole nine yards, and that if he wasn't, he'd pay me $50 when he turned 18.

Kid turns 18 this August. And don't think I'm not cashing in!

I feel privileged to have grown up with the internet though. I remember my first time on it was when I was in 7th grade. I went to Danielle Ross's house for a sleepover and we went on AOL to a chat room and talked to CrazySup for hours via instant messaging.

It was awesome.

Just wait til you're in your 30's, you'll REALLY feel the generation gap then.

My 12 year old niece asked me why I am moving to Denmark, I told her it's because I'm in love with a girl and I'm going to get married to her.

Her delightful reply? "But you're OLD."

*Though have you been in the toy sections lately? THEIR toys are DEFINITELY cooler than ours were.

Though much love to Legos and Light Brite.

The only toy I feel regret to not have had as a child is the Color Wonder collection.

That sh*t looks hot!
