Steve...I need a full course in Contemporary Modern Post-War Post-Industrial British culture and the terms used therein. I'm sad to admit that what I've learned comes from Mr. Bean, Monty Python and Fr. Ted.

I say we just call it Grade School and make it easier for everyone.
7 yrs ago - Friday 7/20/07 - 8:26:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah. Grade school and no more metric system and I'll be good.

Being Canadian born, I will not give up metric, damn it. Join the rest of the modern world.

Father Ted is Ireland ffs!

We have either primary school (Grades 1-6)
or Infant School (Grades 1-3) and Junior School (Grades 4-6). I went to primary school because I rawk.

(See? I can't even keep my comedic TV series straight )...what I really want to see is Ripping Yarns and The Young Ones.

Some American cities have only Elementary/Grade School (Grades K- 8) and High School (Grades 9- 12). I had Grade School (Grades K- 5), Middle School/Junior High (Grades 6- 8), and High School (Grades 9- 12).

The system is a little too complex. I don't see what's so special about Middle School students that they need a separate school.

My school experience has been primary school (Years R-6), secondary school (Years 7-11) and sixth form (Years 12 and 13). Then it's on to uni.
7 yrs ago - Friday 7/20/07 - 8:39:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
Sixth form? Where did that term come from?
7 yrs ago - Friday 7/20/07 - 8:41:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
When I went...our Catholic system had a massive changeover. So Elementary School went from K-8 and High School went from 9-12.

...and if you're living in Ontario, you had to go through Grade 13 before being accepted into college.

Sixth form rocks. Years 12-13. A complete doss.

I also appreciated not having to wear a uniform anymore.
7 yrs ago - Friday 7/20/07 - 8:45:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
Meh... the Young Ones is OK. I dislike Rik Mayall though. Ade Edmondson rocks!

Bristol isn't England.
England is London.
England is Birmingham.
England is Manchester.
Bristol is TEH WEST COUNTRY.

Okay, so Bristol, Gloucester, Leeds, Essex, Caunterbury and Stratford aren't England either?
