I assume everyone is watching the GoT premiere. I was apprehensive about watching this new season just because they have run out of source material and pretty much everything is new to both reader and watcher.

Gonna be honest, I'm not at all pleased. So many promising storylines just axed but it WAS a good season opener. Gearing up for everything this show has to offer this year.

What was axed?
I enjoyed tonight. It was nice to see Cersei's breakdown and Brienne's entrance. I thought everything was nicely set up for future episodes.

I meant in terms of characters going away in this episode.
1 yr ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 4/25/16 - 6:34:34 AM EST (GMT-5)
it was so so

things i liked:
melly getting naked again and going all shining on us
davos and crew holed up in that room
tyrion and varys strolling round mereen
top dothraki banter
arya getting beaten up

things i'm on the fence about:
the whole dorne plot. i don't get it. why are they literally murdering their entire family because another one of their family got killed in a fair fight. and who even cares about any of them
jaime and cersei was just meh
the boring priest guy

things i hated:
that whole ridiculous scene with sansa and theon being rescued at the last moment. everything about it was so cheesy and stupid.
1 yr ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 4/25/16 - 6:39:10 AM EST (GMT-5)
like what even happened to the dogs they were so scared of the whole time
and then it turns out they're just being used for tracking
and then they just f*cked off when everyone started fighting
1 yr ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 4/25/16 - 9:30:18 AM EST (GMT-5)
I loved that scene. I was cringing the entire time, because its Theon and Sansa, and they are the most pathetic of the pathetic cases, and I just KNEW they were just gonna sit there, cry and be captured. And something horrible would happen to Theon.
But no!
I was so happy, we were cheering.

the ladies are upset that prince doran won't go to war
so they take over so that they can go to war

people have killed their own family in that show for less

but I do agree the sand snakes are incredibly boring and who cares

I'm kind of wondering why cersei hasn't ordered the execution of all the religious nutjobs

or at least why the shame lady's head isn't on a pike

Oh man. Doran Martell is the nuts in the books. Short changed.

I mean, Zombie Mountain is here now. Give it time and I bet there'll be some of that.
Plus, leaving them in power a little longer benefits Cersei, since it keeps Margaery in a cell.

Liked it. First episode of a season is always a bit of a set up vehicle - this one had plenty.

1 yr ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 4/26/16 - 9:53:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
I actually liked Brienne's big rescue scene, even if it was done a little ham-handedly.
Sansa isn't a fighter, and that's made very clear from the start. So she's always kind of at a disadvantage in situations like that, and waiting for someone else to step in. I was glad it wasn't just some dude this time - at least I got a little feminist moment out of that mess.

Sand snakes - I also don't care. Have to hope that storyline is going to feature prominently in something else soon, otherwise, what a waste.

Really loved the Tyrion/Varys scene, except for the worst, most nakedly expository line of the whole series: "I guess we're not going to Westeros any time soon." Ugh. You're better than that.

Oh also. The Jaime/Cersei scene. Not a huge fan of their whole relationship, but I do love Jaime as a character, and it was great to see him be that fiery, passionate romantic. "F*ck prophecy; f*ck fate; f*ck anyone who isn't us." That was a highlight for me, for sure.

Dornish line totally pissed me off. What a hell is going on, I asked watching those scenes.
But Cersei\Jaime scene is brilliant, I had tears(((
As a reader I didn't want to watch new seasom, but failed in resisting

Lena played Cersei brilliantly this episode. I used to hate her but not I'm just more interested.

Still cringing at every sand snake scene.

Can't wait to see some Tormund. I know he's going to die eventually but he's my fav right now.
1 yr ago, 6 mos ago - Sunday 5/1/16 - 4:11:58 PM EST (GMT-5)
i don't understand why people hate the sand snakes so much
1 yr ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 5/2/16 - 2:30:04 AM EST (GMT-5)
The general consensus is poo dialogue combined with poo acting. One of them is an academy award winner but it's hard to get past that expression.

For me personally they talk too much, trying to convince other people to fear them. Your Briennes, Hounds and Brons don't try to talk up their game... they are just good fighters

My opinion anyway.

plus their outfits are just the worst
1 yr ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 5/2/16 - 9:49:40 AM EST (GMT-5)
I quit this show. It used to be a medieval power play thing but now it's all about feeding babies to dogs and I'm done.

I mean...have you been paying attention to Ramsay at all? As soon as his father mentioned Walda was pregnant, my mom and I agreed he was gonna off them both in some horrible way. The only question was whether or not he'd wait till the baby was born.
1 yr ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 5/2/16 - 11:21:14 AM EST (GMT-5)
comes for the power plays
can't handle the power plays

ALSO!!!!

Obviously we all *knew* Jon was coming back, and probably due to some Melisandre sh*t. But I appreciated two things about this episode and the way it was done.

1. All the Pyke stuff made more sense. If you're gonna un-deaden a guy, might as well focus 10 minutes on the people whose house words are "What is dead may never die." And get them to say it a whole bunch.

2. Young Lyanna in Bran's warging. That cemented it for me, because there's no f*cking way that was a random throw-in.

OK, three things. 3. Lots of thematic "religious zealots are dangerous and you should make better life choices" in this one. Fit in really nicely with Melisandre's crisis of faith at the end there. And hey, turns out she was still super-effective even without the Lord of Light zealotry!

they need to do something about bran's face

when he was walking through winterfell he looked like a smug little sh-t

But that was a power play.

I'd explain my views in better detail but why bother. Bye.
