I have a burning interest in going down the rabbit hole with every source material now.
watched (but need rewatches):
season 1&2
The return
Fire walk with me (which i rewatched sunday night before the final episodes)
The Missing Pieces
Secret Diary of Laura Palmer (but very long ago)

Now I want to acquire all the Frost books including the one coming out this fall.
what an interesting universe!

a few days ago I did drugs with my friend and I tried to explain twin peaks.

no, I don't know what the hell, either.

makes sense

there's a neat theory that the last two episodes can be played simultaneously, looks super cool whether intended or not

so i did the watching two episode at once thing
a lot of things work really well
some seem incredibly tenuous
the ending is uncanny and works so good though. even the credits music or lack of it seems designed so it doesn't overlap. and actually no music overlaps the whole way through
idk if this link will stay up

ftr i am really not convinced this is an intentional thing, but it is a thing that works really nicely and i am convinced that david lynch would be delighted by it

Just watched the ending part and that's really neat. Not sure if it was designed to be superimposed, but I can imagine that the episodes were planned to have synchronicities or parallels in parts.

In other news, when I watched part 17, there was the LOUDEST cricket right outside my window and it was chirping during the forest scenes and added to all the weirdness for me. Thanks, cricket.

so I've been through and watched the original series again the past two weeks.

just restarted season 3 right now and I have a little theory. maybe it's been covered in fan analysis.

so it starts with cooper and the giant apparently in the white lodge or similar. giant says remember 403, richard and linda, and that cooper is far away now. all right. Well, my little observation is that is seems fitting as an epilogue instead of a beginning. giant is reminding cooper, who is now far away from his original timeline and dimension, of what just occurred with diane/laura/carrie/etc. Kind of giving him some bearings so he doesn't get lost entirely into whateverland. anyway, the idea is that the end already occurred and first scene happened after that. Important? idk. but it seems like, obvious to me somehow.

that sounds nice

have you heard that the lady in the house at the end is the actual irl owner of the house and the theory that they've actually crossed over into the real world?

in others news I've started watching from the very beginning again and it turns out i don't like the original series nearly as much as the return

i mean it's ok but it doesn't fill my heart with joy every episode in the same way
2 yrs ago - Saturday 9/16/17 - 1:44:06 AM EST (GMT-5)
yeah, I've heard that one. There are a lot of great theories out there. I don't care if it's all "solved" per se, but I love to see how people interpret stuff and catch details.

The Return is much better, overall.
But I do love the original and its quaint absurdity, slapstick jokes, and overdramatic soap opera parody. That season 2 stretch was a mess with the "lol, let's be random" and didn't hit the mark, but almost everyone agrees on that.

I like the intense ramping up of horror and sophistication of the new series. It's something new and better entirely, but with the comfort of some of the old players weaving in through the tapestry.

It would be neat if it was all like that, but I like both as different artworks.

i feel like lynch is the ultimate death of the author guy
he just wants everyone to come up with their own interpretations for his art rather than it definitely being about one thing, which is super cool of him
i also love all the theories

cute interview with the lady who owns the house

I just caught up, finally. I told my girlfriend "It's so pure, I can't believe they were allowed to do that." Now I need to do research to remind myself who the Tremonts and Chalfonts were and stuff like that.

original series: Donna visits Mrs. Tremond and her grandson with the Meals on Wheels program.
They're also in Fire Walk with Me in the trailer park.
And I think also in the Return when Gordon and Albert visit the trailer park.

I always remember the grandson because of the speculation that he was the magician who longed to see.

heather graham just turned up and she's great and i kinda wish they'd given annie a cursory scene or at least mention in the return

also leo is up and about, i wonder whatever the f*ck happened to him

i finished season 2 now and it turns out that actually donna is still super annoying and heather graham did her best but her character had no depth whatsoever and just turned up for no reason to be a love interest and plot device

onto fire walk with me!

I finally got around to watch the first “double” episode.
I really enjoyed the old and new characters, but I was a bit turned off by the violence in the motel scene.

No new show insight, but I'd like this shower curtain
