What are you tired of seeing in TV shows?

I just started watching the show "Fringe". I like the stories and the interesting experiments.

But I am so tired of these two things:
1. Character A: What does this mean?
Character B: I cannot tell you yet...you will find out later!

2. Character A: *Scientific explanation that is perfectly understandable*
Character B: wat?
Character A: In layman's terms, his head exploded.

the Magical Electric Paddles of Guaranteed Resurrection

so Character is having a heart attack
bip....bip....biBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE goes the heart thingy
oh no!
so they get the out the Magical Electric Paddles of Guaranteed Resurrection and shock their chest
THWUMP
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
THWUMP
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
THWUMP
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEe
"dammit jim, he's dead!"
"one more time! come on Character, i can't lose you"
THUWMP
............bip.....bip

now my problem with this is that what should be a really suspenseful situation with genuine stakes (especially considering how if your heart actually stops you're probably f*cked and they usually just use those things to stabilise hearts, not restart them as far as i am aware) is reduced to being a boring interlude because in tv land those things ALWAYS F*CKING WORK

also works with just pumping someone's chest with your ha

"There's only one thing stopping you!"
"What?"
"ME!"
Poor dialogue. Overly dramatic.
"We have to stop it!" is in a similar position. You're the hero. Of course you have to stop the bad thing. Duh.

TV Tropes is annoying because they have a disproportionate amount of anime examples.

On the theme of impossible science, the thing where they have a blurry/pixellated photo and they go 'Enhance by 20%. Okay, now 40%"

A - That doesn't work

B- Why don't they just enhance it all the way the first time?
6 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 9/19/13 - 7:01:19 PM EST (GMT-5)
Okay, this is something that happens in movies and TV and it drives me absolutely crazy.

Character A and Character B are in a situation. Character A knows something that Character B totally needs to know. There is no reason why Character A cannot just TELL Character B what Character B needs to know. Character B is worked up, stressed out, angry, etc etc because Character B doesn't know what Character A knows. For whatever reason, Character A says NOTHING or says REALLY VAGUE THINGS when, any reasonable person in the same situation WOULD TOTALLY TELL CHARACTER B WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON...but nope...because it's TV/film.

Annoys me so much.

Oh man, that reminds me of comedies that are entirely based on a misunderstanding that could be totally solved if the character just admitted the misunderstanding.

"If I increase the resolution - - "
No, stop. Stop it. That is not a thing.

Also, procedurals, ffs. Everything seems to follow the House model:
Main character is presented with mystery illness/crime to solve/etc.
Initial assumption quickly dismissed.
Second assumption takes ~20 minutes to prove wrong/figure out WHY it's wrong.
Third assumption comes around the 40-minute mark of the hour. Seems like it's probably the answer, but OH! In the process of trying to prove it, LOOK AT THIS THING WE FOUND that gives us the REAL answer!
5 minute wrap-up of personal storylines.
/credits.

Or the crime/detective shows:

Detective: Hey, I am investigating this case and I found...
Boss: That finding is ridiculous! I order you off this case!
Detective: But, but...
Boss: If I find out you are still pursuing this lead, you're fired!

Detective pursues lead. Boss finds out and takes away their gun and badge for going rogue.

Detective secretly continues case on his/her own time.
Solves crime.

Is reinstated into the force.

Basically, you dislike every pre 20th Century comedies.

Two protagonists witness a crime. Let's not talk to the police, we can solve this ourselves.

Obviously evil character that makes each of his victim a complete idiot for trusting him. Yes, everyone Skylar killed is an idiot.

Overly complicated veangeance plot. 24, season 1.

Too small a cast. Main characters do everything. Starbuck is a pilot / bodyguard / spy / pole dancer

Sex scene. US TV is way overcompensating. It's ridiculous.

Not moving on to logical conclusion. How is it possible for Homeland to run for so long with the same two main characters. Dexter should have spent his third and final season on death row.

that main characters doing everything thing really bugs me too.

This is happening a bit in The Wire, but Im trying to forgive it.

Btw. My Wire experience:
season1: awesome, but who is everyone?
season2: wtf is this crap
season 3: awesome! Now i know who everyone is and stuff

I've seen the spolier about Omar a thousand times, just waiting for it.

I am tired of:

Bad guy trying to kill person
Person gets chance to kill bad guy or at least get them apprehended.
Doesn't, turns their back on bad guy
Bad guy either kills them or gets upperhand.
Ffs shoot the sadistic bastard who is trying to torture and shoot you when you get a chance.

I find I shout " shoot him!!!" At my tv a lot
6 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Saturday 9/28/13 - 12:15:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
season 2 of the wire is really really good imo and is more interesting on the rewatch
i love the different world and all those working class docks guys trying to keep afloat in a dying industry
also ziggy

in terms of awesomeness IMO
4 > 2 > 1 > 3 > 5

I've seen The Wire four times so far. Season 4 is the one I do the most skipping. And most of McNulty drunk scenes.

I just ignore them and enjoy the show for what it is. If not It will take me out of it to much.

What annoys me the most is on any reality/ game show where they break for a commercial right before they unveil the winner/twist what have you. Then they come back from commercial and replay the last five minutes.
