I wish they had a few more computer oriented discussions and interesting projects they were working on. It's not the most innovative IT department, is it? Maybe I'm too early in the series.

Haha, the whole point is that they never do any work. If you want interesting IT discussion, you're in the wrong place.

'Dear Sir/ Madam, i am writing to inform you of a fire which has broken out in the premises of ' no no, too formal.
'Dear Sir/ Madam, FIRE! HELP! FIRE! Looking forward to hearing from you. All the best. Maurice Moss.

I just ordered the dvd's. Prefer it to Big Bang Theory. If you like IT Crowd, watch a show called Father Ted. Fantastic show.

:D Good point Ongooshk.
And I'll consider Father Ted but I do prefer the IT Crowd to the Big Bang Theory.

I got through all of what Netflix has for this show within 2 weeks.

I'd love to hear others' reactions to this show. I haven't watched too much British comedy (I don't watch the original Office) since Monty Python, Faulty Towers and some others.

I love the IT crowd. Rewatched it a couple of months ago.

Try Spaced?

Black Books.

Spaced sounds/looks familiar but I can't remember whether I've watched any of it or not. Black Books I've heard of/vaguely remember. I'll look into both further. :) Thanks for recommendations!

What did you two like about those series?

Right - just watched one episode of Black Books - which is quite good. Thanks for the suggestion!

I like the surreal nature of them. It's totally mad with no plot. Father Ted is the king of them all, the episode 'Speed 3' particularly.

I love when Manny asks if he should wash his beard and Bernard tells him ...Yes, you should wash it, then shave it off, nail it to a frisbee and toss it over a rainbow.

Yeah. You should watch Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey do stand up. Such funny men. I like the 'I Love Books' man. I'll have all the Black Books and IT Crowd soon. The IT Crowd has a special on the way. Have you ever seen Blackadder?

If it all goes wrong in my life, I'm becoming an alcoholic, opening a book shop and being Bernard Black.

I'm seeing Bill Bailey on Friday and I'm being paid a fiver to watch him. Suck it.

Also a thread on contemp British comedy that doesn't mention peep show? I'm disappointed in all of you.
6 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Sunday 5/19/13 - 3:48:50 PM EST (GMT-5)
I never watched Peep Show. I do like David Mitchell though. I'm a big big Charlie Brooker fan too. A ton of his stuff is on YouTube.

i started watching peep show once and it was just so painfully embarrassing that i had to turn it off
i mean that in a good way i think, it seemed like perceptive witty comedy, but too uncomfortable for me to enjoy

I've heard good things about peep show and will look up those others online after I finish Black Books.

What problems? We're on the pig's back charging through a velvet field. - Bernard.

Going to bring this back but going to try to turn it into a generic Brit comedy thread. Anybody watching the new series of PhoneShop? I F*cking love this show. Really underrated.... and sooo much better than the IT crowd!

It's slightly improvised. Bit like Campus (which was great and cancelled before its time!)

I'm watching the pilot of PhoneShop. It looks good. I love British comedy, I grew up watching Fawlty Towers. I'm more than happy to turn this thread into one on the topic.
