40oz To Freedom

Pass Me The Lazerbeam (unreleased except on bootlegs)-This song is so awesome. It's pretty short but it throws in just about every ingredient that influenced the band. Starts with a basic reggae groove, Brad spews some awesome rap rhymes and then a killer guitar solo.

Doin' Time-Classic.

Greatest Hits-Sadly, not on the greatest hits album.

Thanx Dub

Who knows who wrote the hook to that song?
Hint: Jamaican.

April 26, 1992. That song has to be one of the most brilliant underappreciated song in the world. It has one of the best beats of all time.

I, as well, cannot list just 1.

My other favorite as I like to call it is Get Ready

But really the whole s/t album is brillant as well as 90 percent of 40 ounces.

My favorite tune off Robbin' The Hood, is also Greatest Hits.

Poolshark is another classic.

Stylee, my guess: Ziggy Marley

I love Saw Red and 40 oz to Freedom.
16 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Friday 10/1/04 - 5:27:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
Nahh, before Ziggy's time, it was Half Pint. He's mentioned in the song Don't Push, which is on SecondHand Smoke, another version on 40 Oz, and is the secret track on RTH..."If I were Bob Marley I'd say 'Could You Be Loved?', and if I were Half Pint I'd ball lord up above"

What don't you like off of 40 Oz?
I'm not really a fan of Hope personally.

40 Oz to Freedom and Smoke Two Joints
16 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Friday 10/1/04 - 5:46:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, I've been trying to find the guitar tab for the overdub Wyclef laid on it...really smooth sh*t.

The Pharcyde did a great remix too, as did Snoop Dogg (who I don't even usually like).

Stylee, Well, I agree with you on Hope and also their cover of We're Only Gonna Die For Our Arrogance. Both those songs I can do without. The rest, is basically good or great stuff. And also. Smoke Two Joints, is more of a weed song, than a very good song. But, contradicting to most people, their self-titled album, will always be my favorite. Maybe its because it was the first album I ever bought.

Oh, and All You Need is another good one. off Robbin' The Hood, I think. Or maybe 40 oz. I forget.

16 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Sunday 10/3/04 - 3:26:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
It's Robbin The Hood.

We're ONly Gonna...is a punk song I can get into, maybe because of the reggae sections that lead into the harder parts.

Smoke Two Joints is also a cover! American reggae band called The Toyes did it first. Sublime's as a cool riff but not the strongest song on the album.

Self-titled is great.
Jailhouse is another partial cover. The title and some of the lyrics are from a Wailers song by the same name and the melody and another portion of the lyrics are from a Tenor Saw song called Roll Call that I stumbled on one day.
I've never seen that song mentioned in any of the liner notes or any Sublime fansite but it's obvious that it's the inspiration for Jailhouse.

Yeah, what people sometimes like to call filler, like Johnny Butt, to me is good stuff. Except for Paddle Out, I think every song on that album is great.

Paddle Out, because of the early guitar riff, is still good.
