Hey guys! We FINALLY DID IT. It just took 4 years or so.

Just starting this up before the other one gets locked up. Please continue from whichever song it gets locked on.

Just a reminder of the rules:

The rules as according to psychoman364 and Matthias and now, jayY:

1: DO NOT COMMENT ON A SONG IF YOU HAVE NOT HEARD IT.

This shouldn't be too much to ask for as everybody who posts a new song should provide a link to a soundfile or video of the song (with youtube and myspace and stuff, this is an acceptable request, isn't it?)

2: We want a little description of why you like the song.
We don't want "Oh, I liked it.". We want a little something more.

3. This thread is a good opportunity to introduce new stuff to others / to get introduced to music you haven't heard yet.
So, although there's probably different opinions about what qualifies as 'well known' and it's fun listening to some good old tunes every now and then, try to post something a bit original (no, it does NOT have to be something nobody except you has ever heard ...).

VIOLATION OF THE RULES GIVES RIGHT FOR THE NEXT POSTER TO IGNORE YOUR PATHETIC MUSIC HATING ASS AND JUST COMMENT ON THE SONG YOU FAILED AT.

Started it off old school! I like this kid. I'd adopt you faster than Angelina adopts brown children.

Salome - White Tides
4 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 6/11/13 - 5:08:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
Started off not to my liking. Didn't really interest me until around 5 minutes in. Then got slow again. Meh. No thank you.

Grouplove - Colours

Definitely interesting. Visually moreso than musically.

Patricia Kaas - D'allemagne (live)

Patricia Kaas - D'allemagne (live)

She has a great voice. The song never really picks up, though. I wish that it would because I think that it really calls for it.

You know what it reminds me of, come to think about it? Is a theme song from a 007 movie.

Next:
The Impossibles - Eight Ball
4 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Friday 6/14/13 - 11:42:43 PM EST (GMT-5)
The Impossibles totally sounds like Sublime.

Absence of Light - Skanda, I (Kenyan Blackened Death Metal)
4 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 6/16/13 - 5:22:55 AM EST (GMT-5)
Meh.

Averageish hardcore fare, trying too hard to be Converge without actually doing anything interesting.

Toh Kay - Toe to Toe

As usual, I'll post two versions:

Streetlight Manifesto - Toe to Toe
4 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Sunday 6/16/13 - 5:39:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
I started with the second version and thought the content including instrumentation to be very good but the vocals didn't do it for me. They were very "performy" like they were jivving it up for audience's sakes and everybody was more jolly than they felt.

The first version was great. I felt like the song was in line with its message.

I just really like the lyrics of this song, the way it sets up the prophesy: "Who will throw the stone?" "Somebody's going to throw the stone." "YOU will throw the stone."
Kinda cool.

fab country song, love the lyrics. nice solid tune that'll get stuck in my head
love her twangy voice and accent

animal collective - banshee beat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jj-0...

The first two minutes are kinda eerie, then goes into a tempo that made me think of Michael Jackson somehow. I did not expect that based on the cover.

Fun. - Carry On

Fun. - Carry On
-Its interesting. The intro was long, but intricate. Its a well-done happy song. I may not like happy music, but I recognize musicianship.

Here's my double-post:

The original Blues version of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile"

F. Chopin : Etude op. 10 no. 3 in E major "Tristesse" (Pollini)
4 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Monday 6/17/13 - 12:37:42 AM EST (GMT-5)
Maybe I misunderstand how this works, but the second link doens't work, so I'll go with Jimi (no offense to Frederic who's just fine). Voodoo Chile isn't the one I'd pick ("Little Wing" would be mine, the live version), but you can't go wrong with any Hendrix. I felt this went on a bit, actually, though I know that's sort of the point with him. Maybe just a bit less patient lately with such things.

Anyway, good pick, here's mine. For me, it's all about the chorus, which this video choose to highlight.

Pixies, Debaser
4 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Monday 6/17/13 - 6:14:23 PM EST (GMT-5)
I liked the guitar/bass to it, I liked the vocals at first too, bu then they just started to agitate me. Overall it was okay
Next up:
Little sister - Queens Of The Stone Age
4 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Monday 6/17/13 - 6:35:27 PM EST (GMT-5)
Little Sister - QOTSA

After listening to QOTSA so long they all sound the same to me. Like they're trying really REALLY hard to be the Foo Fighters and failing miserably at it. I guess they just never rubbed me the right way. Not that they're a bad band, just didn't hit me musically the right way.

Anti-flag - - 'Angry, Young and Poor'

I loved the beat to the song but I hated the vocals, I don't know why I just found the lead singers voice irritating.
K I'm going to crank this up a notch and put on some good old Metal: Slayer - Angel Of Death
4 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 6/19/13 - 1:34:50 AM EST (GMT-5)
that was alright. not my usual thing but it's executed well. gets you amped up. punching walls and sh-t. so over the top and cheesy that it's fun

Mr Muthaf-ckin Exquire- Paper Hearts

Mr Mtuahf-ckin Exquire - Paper Hearts

Nice beat. I always love that tight snare sound. It sounds like he does three lines before taking a breathe. Not sure if that is good or bad, but I just happen to have noticed it. I am no MC by any means. Vocals are really good. Lyrics are awesome, too.

Tulsi - - Graffiti

Tulsi - Graffiti
I'm sorry but, no... Just no... I hate rap, sometimes the beat is okay, but I hated the beat and lyrics to it.

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
4 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 6/19/13 - 11:00:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb

What kills me about Pink Floyd is that there seems to be this unspoken pre-requisite that if you like music or "appreciate" music, you MUST think that this band is legendary. I mean, they're okay but they're not the big sh-t that they have been made out to be, imo.

I have never really been too impressed with them. Take this song, for example. Way too long.

Tripping on about 20 different drugs or not.

Duke Ellington is a legend, not these guys.

Anyways:
Bouncing Souls - Kids and Heroes

Bouncing Souls - Kids and Heroes
Meh. Too...modern-ish sounding. Too pop-ish. I'm in now way certain of what they sound like, but the first thing that came to mind were bands like Fallout Boy and the others like that. Groups aimed at teenage girls with Pop-rock.
If that's what you like though, good for you, I guess.

The Anatomy of Frank - Death of a Fly (Live)
I'm not gonna lie, it's kinda slow to start, but it picks up after 1 or 2 minutes. But this is my current Favorite band. Absolutely amazing music.
4 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Thursday 6/20/13 - 3:48:48 AM EST (GMT-5)
(skip me)

Re: Bouncing souls - they are from Jersey. They have been around a long time. It is one of those situations where Fallout Boy and the others like that come to your mind but when you hear them but it is the opposite that is true. You wouldn't hear Fallout Boy and the other groups without The Bouncing Souls.

That kind of thing.

I guess I'll post:

Fugazi - Waiting Room

Fugazi - Waiting Room
What more is there to be said? It's Fugazi! These guys are sick. I love how perspective works with tracks like this. It's that old school punk/hardcore feel mainly from the production with a writing style we now consider more contemporary within the genre. These guys are influential for a good reason.

Eluveitie - A Rose For Epona
