So, scholarship season has opened up at my college, and even though I considered applying for one, I just hate the Essay part of it. I feel like I am writing a sob story, I feel like I'm kissing ass, I feel like I'm groveling and pleading for this measly $500-$1000. I don't really need it, my tuition and books are taken care of and I'm thankful for that. But I am also unemployed, so every little bit helps.
But god, I don't want to do this.
How do you feel about scholarships? Did you ever have to apply for one? How did you feel about it?

In other news, family drama. Cops were called.
I'm just too over all of this. I want to move, preferably out of the country once I graduate. Maybe Germany or Sweden. But it appears to be super difficult to immigrate to Sweden. Seems to be the case with most European countries. I could immigrate to America, but....why. Why would I do that to myself.

I've never had to write essays for scholarships, just for college applications.

This fall, my older son will be writing essays to apply to college as well as for scholarships applications. He's been working in his classes on techniques for writing college related essay stuff.

I can't remember back that far.

I had an academic work scholarship, but that was based on my high school grades, so no essay was required with the application. I can easily write essays, but writing about yourself like that sucks.

I agree, I am really good with writing essays, and I've always gotten high marks on my more personal essays (My English comp and rhet teacher really wanted me to attend his fiction writing class during the summer) its usually one of the most easiest things for me to do while in college. Essay, 800 words? You sure? I can 2000 if you want me to. In fact, LET ME DO IT.

But this self depreciation fest you want me to perform, ew.

Also....if you win, they want you to read the essay at this ceremony/luncheon thing that the sponsor will be hosting. Again, self suck off for them, humiliation for the winner.

Why even do this to people....

Write an essay about how you would utilise the money and explain how the application process makes you feel.

If you don't apply there's no difference than telling them how much this sucks.

You might actually get it for being brutally honest.

Reading it at a luncheon? No way I'd even apply for this thing.

Free money...why yes please! It would be silly to pass up any opportunity.

I have also thought about moving to either Finland, Denmark, or Switzerland. But yeah, too difficult to immigrate. And it seems very difficult to get a job there if you do not speak their language.

I cannot understand why anyone would want to move to the US...it is poo. Look what our own citizens are doing...destroying their own cities then crying when they don't get the money to fix their damage. Wanting to defund the police and live in complete chaos. It is craziness!

My friend moved to Nashville, then Hopkinsville. She has her dream job working for Eric Church. That kind of gig doesn't happen in Europe. It's not about where you are but how immersed you are in the mainstream society.

As Frank Zappa said in 19 f*cking 66:
Go to woik, be a joik
Do your job and do it right
Life's a ball, TV tonight

Be a loyal plastic robot
For a world that doesn't care
Smile at every ugly
Shine your shoes and cut your hair.

Time to go home, Madge is on the phone
Gotta meet the Guerneys and a dozen gray attorneys
TV dinner by the pool, I'm so glad I finished school
Life is such a ball I run the world from City Hall.

Exactly my sentiment. I already hate public speaking, I had a public speaking class during the summer, and just talking in front of my family gave me anxiety. And on top of that you want me to intone about the horrible life I had led, in front of strangers.
No thank you.

When I think about the U.S,....I see it as just a matter of time before it implodes. Like it was just all a half hearted experiment. They just seem so divided. They can't even agree on the most simple and most reasonable of things.
No offense, Americans.

I do love ya'll.
And technically, we are like cousins. Or half sisters. National, wise.
