What do you think would be the absolute worst thing that could happen to you?

I was looking for my uncle's obituary and stumbled across the obituary of a 12 week old baby girl that died. It said she was waiting on a heart transplant. I cannot imagine how painful losing a child would be. I don't know that I'd be able to survive it.

Seeing that obituary has put me in a depressed mood. But I am also thankful that I have healthy kids when so much could go wrong. I recently saw a documentary in which a doctor warned about how multiple C-sections makes the next surgery like "cutting into a box of melted crayons" and it got me really thinking. Maybe I should not have anymore, although I do want another baby.

The other thing is that I feel guilty for not going to my cousin's service and I do not plan on going to my uncle's service, either. I don't want to take my kids there for one thing. I would have liked to have seen my family members...but not under those circumstances.

I also feel guilty because I did not cry when I got that news that they passed. I expected the uncle to any day now, but not my cousin. I cried when my cat died, though.

I think there are many, many worst things. I try not to think of them like that, that’s enough to send anyone on a downward spiral.

I agree that losing a child would be completely and utterly devastating.

How many kids do you want in total?

That's awful, the poor family.

My sister-in-law was told that she could have up to 4 c-sections. She already has 3 kids (2 boys, 1 girl) and she desperately wants another girl but doesn't want to take a chance it'll be a boy and then she can't have any more.

Maybe speak to your doctor about it before you rule out the possibility of having more?

I wanted four but got delayed with my fertility issues. It took eight years to have my daughter. My son came relatively easy. One of my providers laughed and said my body finally figured out what to do.

I had C-sections for both of my deliveries and the last one I had a "window", meaning my uterus was so thin that the doctor could actually see my son through it before she made any incisions. She did a special type of double stitching repair but also said I should be careful about having anymore children.

So I talked to one of my providers about it and she said that it happens more than you'd think, and that by the next C-section the window is often never seen again. She said be careful about getting pregnant too soon...wait at least a year and that I would be carefully monitored again and that since I don't have a history of contracting or going into early labor that I could

go forth.

But there are so many possible problems. And even the baby him/herself could have a problem like the one I mention above. I am 39 now, my eggs are more likely to have problems and my husband is older and there are problems related to that as well.

The worst thing? Probably get some sort of degenerative disease and die a slow, painful death.

Childloss seems like one of the worst things but I cant feel it on a visceral level like parents can.

To me the worst thing I can imagine is being kidnapped and tortured. There was that one woman who was kidnapped by a couple and they kept her in a long box under a bed with breathing holes, took her out to rape and torture her and then returned her to the box until they felt like taking her out again. It's unimaginable.

I just saw a Facebook post about a guy who worked at the company that I worked for last who died of testicular cancer within a week of being diagnosed. Had a wife and kids. Sudden death of anyone in a family is probably terrible.

But mouse pellets is probably right that real life abduction and torture actually happens. I think the whole idea of those scenarios is to create a circumstance that is actually worse than death. All of those loved ones of the abductee are probably already dealing with believing that that person is dead.

Well here I am at 9:53AM and I have not slept.

I finished my school work early, though. I am surprised I was able to get through it this week. I didn't do it at all on Wednes, the first day. Thurs involved an appointment and the start of the illness so I didn't do it then either. Friday was a mess, with being at the ER and all. I didn't really start my work til Saturday so I really only did it three days out of these seven days.

I wish I could go to sleep like a normal person. I do have sleeping pills the sleep doc gave me to try but I don't want to take it this late, or early...or whatever. I have to go out and get diapers at some point today.

Oh, and there is a dusting of snow all over the cars outside. I didn't see the flurries. It happened when it was dark. It wasn't enough to shut down school because the bus still came at 7 something AM.

I'm still up from yesterday too. High five.

That's awesome that you've caught up on the schoolwork. Give yourself a big pat on the back!

High five and thanks.

I only have four more weeks and this quarter is over! It is going by so fast.

The fire people are supposed to come and check the sprinklers and fire extinguishers. I will probably just start to get to sleep when they knock.

This is what sucks so much about apartment living, they are always in here for some reason and it is an invasion of privacy. When we rented our two houses, the property management company left us alone unless we called them to come fix something and the actual property owners/investors lived out of state.

Ooooo, I so get what you mean about the invasion of privacy. For so many months after we left my in-laws home we lived in a building where you could rent a room. Considering it was week by week lease with full house keeping and facilities, I thought we'd find a house and get out super quickly and was so happy we found that place. Turned out house hunting is a lot more time consuming.
Anyway, they had a weekly fire drill that could happen at any time during the day. It was such a headache.

Yeah...I spent quite a bit of time tidying up and dusting and stuff only for no one to show up today. I guess the tiny bit of snow is why.

They are always in here for something. I know it is to spy on their tenants because so many people here sneak pets in and although they don't want you to smoke inside your apartment, they are not 100% smoke free so with the cold weather, people sneak and smoke inside. They always put out a notice that states if they see any evidence of it you will be charged, yadda yadda. The other thing is that after these inspections, you can walk through the breezeways and see multiple white envelopes on the people's doors...meaning they got a lease violation for whatever reason.
