For part time reception at a real estate chain.

Guess how I got it?

That’s right, my aunt’s husband’s brother works there.

This is somehow uplifting and disheartening at the same time.

Lately my depression has been really, really bad. I sat with my gratitude journal for fifteen minutes last night trying to think of five things I’m grateful for. And I know I have a LOT to be grateful for because there are so many people so much worse off than I am, but I feel like when I list ‘a safe place to sleep’ I’m kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel, which is a bit counterintuitive to what a gratitude journal is meant to be about.

Gah

How many hours do they expect you'd get per pay period?

If I worked in a real estate office I would probably try to climb the ladder and get trained as an agent.

Like fifteen.

Still better than zero and gives me plenty time to keep looking for something else.

And if I don’t it would become full time in September

Good job on getting your foot in the door, SJ. It's a step forward! Hope you like the role and the company.

Thanks! Let’s hope I don’t flub it up.

Any tips?

Avoid flubbing it up.

I already moved a date with a cute engineer to Friday so I can go to bed early tonight

I should make a packed lunch.

I got another interview

This one is in downtown Toronto

Which would be so cool, I’ve always wanted to live downtown

I could go to soooo many events and free lectures

I like to plan out my outfit for the first day/week at a new job ahead of time. It helps me feel more put together.

Making a packed lunch is a good idea too.

Oh nice! Working downtown is fun.

Well, I can't speak to downtown Toronto because I've never been there, let alone worked there.

But I've enjoyed working in other downtowns and I assume there is some overlap in terms of the perks.

Are downtowns in other countries nice? Downtown in the u.s. usually translates to "sh*thole".
20 days ago - Thursday 6/6/19 - 3:54:24 PM EST (GMT-5)
Depends on the city, though. If not sh*thole, busy as hell and not pleasant, at least.
20 days ago - Thursday 6/6/19 - 4:52:45 PM EST (GMT-5)
Toronto is extremely heckin nice. Most of the GTA is.

Hamilton is a sh*tshow, and so is Ptbo

London is fine, Barrie is boring, Kingston is yucky, Oshawa is a joke, Ottawa is nice.

I have no idea what Thunder Bay is doing but I haven’t heard many good things.

And that’s Ontario.

GTA traffic is *legendary,* though.
20 days ago - Thursday 6/6/19 - 4:57:43 PM EST (GMT-5)
I love Ottawa...

Not a huge fan of Toronto.
20 days ago - Thursday 6/6/19 - 5:04:24 PM EST (GMT-5)
Oh, I don’t drive. And the job is on the PATH.(google it yourself, lazy)
20 days ago - Thursday 6/6/19 - 5:23:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
OK SO HERE YA GO

Pearls or nah?

And which shoes? The black ones are a bit lower quality and less comfy but I feel like they go better.
20 days ago - Thursday 6/6/19 - 5:23:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
CHRIST PUT SOME POLISH ON THOSE SHOES
20 days ago - Thursday 6/6/19 - 5:23:47 PM EST (GMT-5)
Also since you can't really tell, that's a v. nice dress. It's french connection - not a sundress.
20 days ago - Thursday 6/6/19 - 5:24:35 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'LL PUT SOME POLISH ON YOUR BUTT

After I put it on my shoes.

Via kicking.

Downtown Toronto is brand new and expensive. The city has been booming for 30 years. It’s insane.
(I like staying there for a few days, but I could never afford living there)
20 days ago - Thursday 6/6/19 - 5:41:47 PM EST (GMT-5)
Oh there is absolutely zero chance in hell I'll be able to afford an apartment.

I'll have to either rent a room or find a roommate and live in a windowless den.
