I've been noticing lately that the world rarely seems "new" anymore. There was a sheen on life in childhood, 20s, early 30s, where life had more mysteries and surprises and a feeling of awe and wonder towards the Future.

Lately it seems like it has lost its luster and everything seems samey. Same old holidays, same old work, same old interactions, same old weather, same old worries, same old bills, same old depression.

I'm seeing why people headed into their 40s and 50s have that big extinction burst where they try to inject some excitement and risk to feel anything. And why people travel more. I think a lot of this would be mitigated by plopping into new countries and landscapes, but you know, $$$.

Have a couple of older lady patients tonight. Countdown probably 10-11 hours until home again.

Boyfriend and I are going to play basketball this summer. He's 6"5". No fair.

I feel that way. The older I get, the more jaded I become. I no longer have any hobbies. I don't have my horses which were a huge part of my life. And things that used to bring me joy no longer do. Like shopping...I used to get a high from buying things. Not anymore. I pick items up in the store, think about it for like ten seconds, then put it back down.

I would probably be severely depressed if it weren't for my children. They are my world now. The kids are really the only true joy in my life and everything I do have to look forward to involves them. Right now I am looking forward to my new baby's first smile.

I really hated being made to play basketball in PE when I was in school. I am not athletic and I suck at sports. I rarely made a hoop and it was very easy for the other players to steal the ball from me.

Well, I've had problems with depression, anxiety, extreme shyness ever since I started forming memories...
but I also thought it was a thing you could get over and the future would be better. Turns out nope, if you have a permanent mood disorder with no cure. blah.

I want to learn that thing where you spin the ball on your finger.

Your thoughts remind me so much of my own sometimes.

I feel you.

Except never had any kids. I often wonder if that would've made my life better/more meaningful/fulfilling. But I chose in favor of not doing it because I was afraid of them having a depressed mom who didn't do right by them.

We're probably cousins somewhere along the ancestry. Sharing a common mopey Italian ancestor that dreamed of drowning in the town fountain but never got around to it.

Exactly

Gah.

This lady breathes through her mouth 90% of the time.

But the nose+mouth mask hurt her too much after a surgery.

So trying the nose mask. Which doesn't work because all the air just blows out of her open mouth.

3.5 more hours of not helping this woman breathe well at all.

Yeah with that. You just put the ball on your finger then you spin it around

Never would've thought of that. Thanks, k8.

I'm pretty sure I breath through my mouth majority of the time, awake and asleep, I'm told that's weird? Is it common with patients you've studied?
22 days ago - Saturday 5/4/19 - 4:05:32 AM EST (GMT-5)
It's not uncommon.

Problem is, everyone wants the tiniest type of mask that just goes near or over the nose, but they really need a biog Darth Vader huge mask that fits over the mouth, too.

We try with a nose mask+ a chin strap to keep the mouth closed but it doesn't work that well.

Mouth breathing when you're awake is sometimes a sign of nose or sinus problems. It's better to breathe through the nose.
22 days ago - Saturday 5/4/19 - 4:54:08 AM EST (GMT-5)
I breathe through my mouth most of the time. It feels like I'm straining to breathe when I breathe through my nose. I had really bad asthma when I was little so I always out it down to that.
22 days ago - Saturday 5/4/19 - 5:32:25 AM EST (GMT-5)
There's a lot of things that could cause it.
Boyfriend sometimes does it because of a deviated septum and allergies.

I'm glad I can nose-breathe. When I have a cold and can only mouth breathe, I feel like I'm suffocating.

When is it not totally obnoxious to mow a lawn on a Saturday?
I am trying to figure out whether to stay up and wait 3-4 hours to do yardwork for my mom or do it when I get up later. I feel like doing it early because I'm kinda awake.
22 days ago - Saturday 5/4/19 - 6:36:40 AM EST (GMT-5)
I'd leave until around lunch time at least. People like to lie in on weekends if they're not working.
22 days ago - Saturday 5/4/19 - 6:53:36 AM EST (GMT-5)
9 is ok, 10 is better.
