Do you believe in it? Is it weird that I take comfort in the idea of it?

So it seems that the LPN is being phased out in my area and if I want to work in a medical office I would need to go for medical assistant instead. But I looked up the average salary in my state for MA and am dismayed to find it is lower paying than my previous call center/customer service job that required no certification or degree.

I have lost both mine and my daughter's social security cards. Have you ever lost yours? Well be careful because apparently there is a limit on replacements and I have nearly reached mine (thanks mom, for losing mine too many times!)

i don't believe in karma strictly but i do believe doing good things makes you feel good

What happens if you reach the limit of SS card replacements then?

I will say something is related to karma, but really, it doesn't make enough sense to be a real thing. It's like tarot cards. Maybe someone gives you an eerily acuurate reading, but you know it's still random.

As far as the job, pay's not the only thing. It's also good to get a skill that can give you job security for the next 30-40 years if need be. I kind of wish I had done something more general in the medical field because these sleep jobs are dying out/too many new employees joined the field in the last 10-15 years.

and yeah, customer service/call center should be around a long while but s something you'd like to do throughout your middle ages? Maybe you love it, I don't know./

You get ten replacement cards and then you cannot get anymore. I think I will be on number seven or eight. I am going to tear the house up looking for ours before I request a replacement though.

That is true about job security. I want to have a skill that is in demand. The customer care/call center jobs pay well and usually have good benefits BUT they are also high turnover.

I did really enjoy my job. I worked there twice. Truth be told, I would even go back part time. But it was the industry, administering rx insurance benefits. I doubt I would like a call center job doing something such as collections, or trying to sell people magazines or whatever.

I don't know why, but my area is a desert for call center jobs. All they have around here is the scammy telemarketer jobs. I'd totally do a call center if it was convenient. I think all the jobs are in the city for an expensive long commute away.

We have so many. A lot are now offering work from home as well. But you cannot have background noise of course.

I would like to find a customer service job where I didn't have to be on the phone but could instead do chat or E-mail. Then I could probably work from home.

Oh that would be spectacular.

And to be quite honest, I find that chat/e-mail customer service hardly ever solves my problem. They seem to have some scripts and don't go off of them if your problem does not fit. It would probably be so easy from the chatter's side.

Karma is definitely real. But there are some people who seem to be exempt which is frustrating. Or maybe they made a deal with the devil to save all their bad karma for later.

I hate doing webchat because a problem that would take me two minutes to solve by phone takes ten minutes by Web chat thanks to the extremely slow response times of the customer.
4 days ago - Saturday 3/16/19 - 12:39:25 PM EST (GMT-5)
I am always typing way faster than the CS rep and I can see that they are typing a response and I am waiting and waiting...

The one thing that annoyed me about being a CS rep on the phone was the customer would start out with saying something, I would know immediately how to fix it and we were not to interrupt the customer so you would have to let them go off on some tangent for like ten minutes before you could cut in and say "Yes of course we can fix this. I'll be happy to help you with that". Or you have to listen to them bitch about the IVR for ten minutes before you can even get started...

that would imply to me that it's not real

Maybe I am evil. Because I get comfort from the thought of BAD karma...like if someone does you dirty, something bad will happen to them. I just like to think that you reap what you sow.

That’s also a very catholic way of life fe.

i mostly agree with this. however, i believe karma exists in one way or another. if you're generally a good person, people will help you when you need it. at least that's my observation.

i used to keep an extra bed in my office when we lived in our old apartment. it was for if anyone wanted to crash there. it came in handy when a friend of mine from school was in an abusive relationship and i let her stay there for a couple of weeks. we helped her find a new living situation, i went and got her things from the old place when she moved.

what does the last part of your post have to do with karma?
3 days ago - Saturday 3/16/19 - 6:02:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
i felt good about doing something good for that person, sorry if i didn't mention it. i was agreeing that doing good things makes you feel good.

as for karma? i'm not 100% sure. i can't close the door on the possibility, nothing is absolute.

Then I guess we're both evil, sista.
Instant karma is great (falling over after doing something bad).
But I also believe in hell, so I believe whether they appear to get punished in this life or not, they'll potentially burn in hell anyway.
Obviously someone has to do something really bad for me to think like this.

I think it's a pretty horrible idea that when something dreadful happens to someone, it's because they've done something to deserve it. Especially when scrolling through the news forum in the past couple of days.

Some good news is I found our SS cards! I am so relieved.

But my TDAP injection site STILL hurts and I am having some kind of bout of depression or something. I must have done something bad to bring this negativity to myself!
3 days ago - Sunday 3/17/19 - 12:31:02 AM EST (GMT-5)
Why don't you guys just use a national identification number? I've never had to use a card which i doubtless would end up losing.

And no karma belief for me, or anything else supernatural for that matter, just human actions and science

I think more people seem to view the negative side of Karma as more "valid" assuming bad things will catch up on those who behave badly.

Then there's the manifestation of "Karma police", people who actively propagate bad sh*t against other people and justify it as an agent of karma. A know a few so-called Buddhists who behave like this.
